You may have come across photos posted by @hotguysreading, an Instagram account dedicated to finding attractive and seemingly well-read men.<\/p>\n
While many netizens express admiration at how good looking these men are, its most recent post has caught the eye of Singaporeans for a different reason.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday (Sept 1), they commented on a photo of a man who has his nose in a book, while seated on a familiar-looking bus that was travelling past Lucky Plaza.<\/p>\n
The post’s caption read: “Priority seats are technically reserved for those who need them the most, and I have never been more in need than right now. This bus is at capacity but I’d like to think the universe has already saved me a place.”<\/p>\n

This is in Singapore! I recognise the bus interior and that sign, and it says Lucky Plaza on the building LOL. Good to see that people still read books in Singapore!”<\/p>\n Another commented, saying that she will have to go back to taking public transport after seeing the post, while another asked “which bus is this?”.<\/p>\n “He knows he da real priority so he sat on the priority seat,” another netizen quipped.<\/p>\n While Singapore being featured on Hot Guys Reading is rare, this is not the first time it has happened.<\/p>\n Back in 2019, a man dressed in crisp office wear and reading on the MRT was featured on the account.<\/p>\n [[nid:441781]]<\/p>\n In July, the National Library Board announced the launch of ReadSG, a new five-year movement to encourage Singaporeans to develop a consistent reading habit<\/a>.<\/p>\n Those who read for at least 15 minutes every day will be able to earn virtual coins, which can be exchanged to cash on the portal run by the Government Technology Agency.<\/p>\n The library hopes to battle the trend towards \u201cshort-form, skimmable content\u201d antithetical to critical thinking, said NLB chief executive officer Melissa Tam.<\/p>\n Now, it’s time to hit the books!<\/p>\n [[nid:741370]]<\/p>\n bhavya.rawat@asiaone.com<\/p>\n<\/div>\nNational reading movement<\/h2>\n
