A 25-year-old man was found dead at Nanyang Technological University’s (NTU) Hall 13 on Monday (Aug 31) night.\u00a0<\/p>\n
On the university’s Reddit thread, users said they saw an area in front of a room cordoned off by the police. Paramedics were also present at the scene.<\/p>\n
In response to AsiaOne’s queries, the police said they received a call for assistance at about 11pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The police added that the man was found lying motionless and was pronounced dead at the scene by a Singapore Civil Defence Force paramedic.<\/p>\n
They added that no foul play is suspected based on preliminary investigations.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
In a statement to AsiaOne, an NTU spokesperson said the university is “deeply saddened by the passing of a student on campus”.<\/p>\n
“Our immediate priority is supporting the student’s family, affected students and the wider campus community during this difficult time,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
NTU’s wellbeing staff and counsellors are in touch with the student’s family and affected students to provide support and assistance.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson added that NTU’s Campus Security responded to a call for assistance on Monday night and subsequently contacted the police and SCDF paramedics.<\/p>\n
The university said it is unable to provide further details while police investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
