Even so, he doesn&#8217;t think he&#8217;d fare very well if he were dropped in that world.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;I feel like some of the Resident Evil games get a little magical,&#8221; Cregger\u00a0said during a Reddit Ask Me Anything session\u00a0(via YouTuber Troy Hill Talks Movies). <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;[Resident Evil] 8,\u00a0we have a woman who can turn into a bird and fly around. And\u00a0like, I love it.\u00a0I&#8217;ve played it a bunch of times.\u00a0I think it&#8217;s an awesome game, but in terms of me making a movie out of it, it&#8217;s like I&#8217;ve got to try and limit\u00a0some of the wild aspects of Resident Evil.\u00a0And so I chose to stick with the\u00a0T-Virus, keep it as grounded as possible.\u00a0So that means I&#8217;m not going to have a gigantic jacked dude in a trench coat,\u00a0because I&#8217;m like, where&#8217;d the coat come from?\u00a0How did he get the coat?&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"RESIDENT EVIL \u2013 Official Trailer (4K)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mNd1gb19A-c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<\/figure>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Cregger explained that while the Resident Evil games do explain how Mr. X gets his stylish coat, in the world he has constructed for the movie, there&#8217;s no time for the infected bioweapons to consider zombie apocalypse fashion. &#8220;This movie, it&#8217;s like the outbreak just happened,&#8221; Cregger added. &#8220;I want to keep it chaotic,\u00a0I want to keep it primal, and I want to just keep it\u00a0as grounded as I can.\u00a0The T-Virus causes all kinds of cool, fun mutations.\u00a0That is enough,\u00a0so I&#8217;m limiting it there.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As a co-founder of the comedy troupe The Whitest Kids U&#8217; Know, Cregger says that the muscles he developed for creating sketch comedy also helped him zero in on &#8220;absurd&#8221; opportunities and find the right timing for unexpected results in Resident Evil. As for his chances of surviving his own creation? Cregger doesn&#8217;t think he&#8217;d last too long in his version of Resident Evil.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;There&#8217;s no chance I would survive,&#8221; Cregger bluntly stated.\u00a0&#8220;I wouldn&#8217;t have survived the cop car attack because I would have probably just dropped to my knees and just been like, just bite me, just f***ing do it.\u00a0I can&#8217;t handle that kind of energy.\u00a0No, I would die so fast.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Resident Evil will be out&nbsp;September 18 in theaters, and the movie is projected to have a big opening weekend in North America.
