These dishes are usually cooked over a campfire using ingredients Prince Noctis and his pals gathered from the road, which is plausible enough. But then there\u2019s, uh, something else on the table: A damp, spotty red cake made from a Killer Tomato, a real enemy from the game. Plated on the side, you\u2019ll find even more tomato. This thing boosts your stats. As he does, every so often, he pauses to dig up a wriggling little creature from the ground, and he eats it on the spot. Eating one restores stamina immediately, no cooking, no prepwork, just Sam popping it in his mouth and moving on. It\u2019s convenient, if questionable. The Literally Killer Tart may be her masterpiece. To make it, you\u2019ll need to gather two Everyman Cicadas, two Gregarious Scorpions, two Sand Upas, two Munchygrubs, and two Motley Cobras. If you\u2019re keeping track, all of these ingredients are insects or reptiles. There\u2019s nothing added to make this \u201ctart\u201d a pastry and not just a bowl of wriggling critters. Unfortunately, this is far from Mythra\u2019s only crime against food. Her repertoire also includes a Pureed Sculpin Parfait (fish and lettuce, yum!) and a Spicy Scorpion Cookie. Eating the Literally Killer Tart does provide in-game buffs \u2014 including, somehow, the party\u2019s trust in Mythra. Which raises some questions. Quite the convenient mid-fight snack: Just a whole rotisserie chicken that\u2019s come from nowhere. Which might sound delicious, kind of, in some contexts, but we have to remember that this is a full chicken that\u2019s been on the floor, and we don\u2019t know where it\u2019s been. The <em>Vampire Survivors<\/em> fanbase considers this a direct reference to Castlevania\u2019s Mysterious Wall Meat (and possibly an ode to even older games as well, like the food pickups in \u201880s arcade games, like <em>Gauntlet<\/em>). If you collect enough Floor Chickens in <em>Vampire Survivors<\/em>, fabulous news, you\u2019ll unlock something called The Coop \u2014 an entire bonus stage populated by hostile, mutated chickens. The game doesn\u2019t care which. (It probably should.)<\/p>\n<p>During a story beat in <em>Heavy Rain<\/em>, private investigator Scott Shelby offers to cook breakfast for Lauren while she showers. You control the cooking process directly. You can choose to burn the eggs or leave them completely raw. When Lauren returns and eats <em>whatever<\/em> you\u2019ve done, her reaction and dialogue remain identical regardless of what you\u2019ve put on her plate. (I\u2019m wincing just <em>thinking<\/em> of the sensation of eating a raw plate of runny egg whites). There is nothing wrong with that. Until you look closer at what ingredients they\u2019re choosing, which include foie gras and sea cucumber, along with other choices that no functioning curry recipe has <em>ever<\/em> called for. The game never shows you what the finished dish looks like, but you <em>do<\/em> see other characters eat it and react with visible distress. It\u2019s described in-game as a grayish-brown mush with visible chunks of meat, served in a bowl made of grass. It\u2019s a disciplinary dish, unfortunately: Forcing a dissenting follower to eat it can scare them back into line\u2026and also, most of the time, make them violently ill. While we won\u2019t get <em>even more <\/em>into the cannibalism of it all right here, players can also deploy this in an even darker way by killing a dissenter\u2019s <em>friend<\/em>, cooking the dish, and serving it to the dissenter. As a psychological weapon in a game about running a cult, this is useful.
