A fire involving vegetation broke out near a bus stop along Upper Bukit Timah Road on Aug 23.<\/p>\n
The Singapore Civil Defence Force told Stomp that it was alerted to the fire, which involved vegetation measuring approximately two metres by three metres, at around noon.<\/p>\n
SCDF extinguished the fire using a hose reel.<\/p>\n
There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n
Stomper Angel<\/strong> said she saw three police cars, a fire engine and a Red Rhino at the scene opposite Glendale Park Condo at around 12.30pm.<\/p>\n \u201cSCDF firefighters were spraying water on a\u00a0grass\u00a0patch near the roadside,\u201d recounted Angel, who shared photos and a video of firefighting efforts<\/a>.<\/p>\n Angel said she did not see any large flames, but speculated that the fire had broken out because the \u201cpoor grass couldn\u2019t take the heat\u201d.<\/p>\n She told Stomp: \u201cWith Singapore experiencing such hot weather<\/a>, it certainly made me wonder if the dry\u00a0grass\u00a0had caught fire or started smouldering because of the heat<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThankfully, the situation appeared to be under control with the SCDF and the police attending promptly.\u201d<\/p>\n Singapore recorded temperatures between 31\u00b0C and 33\u00b0C<\/a> at around noon to 6pm on Aug 23.<\/p>\n Have something to say?
