An elderly hiker was taken to hospital after falling along the Drongo Trail at Windsor Nature Park on Oct 29.<\/p>\n
Stomper Andrew<\/b><\/span>, who witnessed the incident, said he and other park-goers stopped to help after spotting the man injured on the path at about 11.30am.<\/p>\n “We assisted an elderly hiker who had fallen and sustained a cut,” he told Stomp.<\/p>\n “We immediately contacted the National Parks Board (NParks) and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) for help.<\/p>\n “After waiting for more than half an hour, NParks staff arrived to attend to the case.”<\/p>\n In photos shared by the Stomper, the man appeared to have sustained injuries to his knees and hands.<\/p>\n Andrew added that he frequents the park for exercise and had some advice for solo trekkers.<\/p>\n “The trail is generally quite easy, but for the elderly, it’s best to have someone accompany them – especially on rainy days, as the path can become quite difficult to walk,” he said.<\/p>\n In response to a Stomp query, NParks said its staff were alerted to the incident at around 11.30am.<\/p>\n “Staff provided first aid to the hiker and he was conveyed to the hospital,” said NParks group director of conservation Dr Lim Liang Jim.<\/p>\n “Staff have inspected the trail and have observed no defects.”<\/p>\n SCDF told Stomp it received a call for assistance at 30 Venus Drive at about 11.35am and conveyed one person to Tan Tock Seng Hospital.<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"https:\/\/cassette.sphdigital.com.sg\/image\/stomp\/dff0eafec52526d3c4723b46db9777fff307d698aa0de12e3ab78530154a2880\/embed_13.jpg?w=360&f=webp)
