The police are looking for the driver of a blue Toyota saloon car after a hit-and-run in Sengkang on Thursday (Aug 27) morning.<\/p>\n
The incident happened at about 6.20am on Sengkang East Road towards Buangkok Road, just opposite Sengkang Neighbourhood Police Centre (NPC) and Sengkang General Hospital.<\/p>\n

Photographs and a video of the incident circulating on social media show the car stopped on the traffic island at the junction of Sengkang East Way and Sengkang East Road.<\/p>\n
A traffic light was knocked over, possibly from the impact of the accident.<\/p>\n
Two Traffic Police officers attending to the scene were later joined by at least four other police officers. They were seen searching the vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Responding to AsiaOne’s queries, the police said the car is believed to have skidded, adding that no injuries were reported.<\/p>\n
The police said that the driver had left the scene before officers arrived, and that effort is now underway to trace the driver amid ongoing investigations.<\/p>\n
Under the Road Traffic Act, a traffic accident report must be lodged when the accident involves damage to government property.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Those who fail to take reasonable steps to inform the owner of a damaged property about the damage can be fined up to $1,000 or jailed for up to three months for a first offence.<\/p>\n
