A woman alleged that she found \u201ctiny insects\u201d in her fish soup from a stall in Novena and said she was ill for two days after consuming the food.<\/p>\n
Stomper Bibi <\/strong>had visited the fish soup shop on Aug 18 at around 12.50pm.<\/p>\n She said she was finishing her grouper fish soup with pork and was drinking the broth when she saw \u201csome small bits floating around\u201d.<\/p>\n Bibi initially thought the minced pork had come apart.<\/p>\n \u201cI stirred (the soup) and took a closer look,\u201d the Stomper recounted. \u201cTo my horror, there were tiny insects.\u201d<\/p>\n Bibi shared a photo showing what appeared to be two insects<\/a> floating in her soup, but said she was unsure if there were more because of how small they were.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is not obvious if you never pay attention to it,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n The Stomper has provided feedback to the stall and SFA.<\/p>\n PHOTO: STOMP<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n The Stomper said she informed staff at the shop, but \u201cthey looked lost and did not do anything about it\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThey asked me what they can do. A guy mentioned that his two colleagues were new,\u201d Bibi told Stomp.<\/p>\n \u201cI said they should check the cleanliness<\/a> and update their management, but their facial expressions seemed lost, and they didn\u2019t do any service recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n The Stomper alleged that she had diarrhoea for about two days.<\/p>\n She said she subsequently provided feedback to the stall via email, \u201cbut there has been no follow up\u201d as of Aug 26. She also reported the incident to the Singapore Food agency (SFA).<\/p>\n In response to a Stomp query, SFA said it is looking into the matter and may engage the feedback provider for more details as part of the enquiry and to gather evidence.<\/p>\n SFA said it will not hesitate to take enforcement action if sufficient evidence has been obtained.<\/p>\n \u201cFood safety is a joint responsibility,\u201d the agency added.<\/p>\n \u201cWhile SFA puts in place and enforces the regulatory measures, food operators must play their part by adhering to good food hygiene and preparation practices.
