{"id":79600,"date":"2026-08-26T09:47:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T01:47:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=79600"},"modified":"2026-08-26T09:47:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T01:47:00","slug":"maxwell-food-centres-china-street-hum-jin-pang-closes-after-40-years-lifestyle-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=79600","title":{"rendered":"Maxwell Food Centre&#8217;s China Street Hum Jin Pang closes after 40 years, Lifestyle News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div xmlns:default=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\">\n<p>China Street Hum Jin Pang at Maxwell Food Centre has quietly shuttered after over 40 years in business.<\/p>\n<p>The hawker stall was known for letting customers fry their own savoury dough fritters, priced at $1 for five pieces.<\/p>\n<p>China Street Hum Jin Pang&#8217;s closure was announced on Monday (Aug 24) via an Instagram video by Deitrich Mohan, third-generation owner of Maxwell Fuzhou Oyster Cake in the same food centre.<\/p>\n<p>According to the 43-year-old, the stall closed some time last week after the owners &#8220;called it quits&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;They&#8217;re done making it, and we&#8217;ll probably never experience something like that ever again,&#8221; he said, lamenting that this was the end of yet another traditional dish in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>In the clip, Deitrich also showed the unit previously occupied by the heritage stall was undergoing renovation. Their hum jin pang is unique and I&#8217;ve never seen it replicated anywhere else.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s really sad but I hope aunty can retire well.
