{"id":78650,"date":"2026-08-22T19:21:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T11:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=78650"},"modified":"2026-08-22T19:21:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T11:21:00","slug":"turtle-museum-in-yishun-reopens-after-over-a-year-relocation-cost-more-than-2m-lifestyle-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=78650","title":{"rendered":"Turtle museum in Yishun reopens after over a year, relocation cost more than $2m, Lifestyle News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum in Yishun is back, bigger and better than ever.<\/p>\n<p>This Sunday (Aug 23), it will reopen at 11 Chencharu Close, which is a stone&#8217;s throw from its former location at Lorong Chencharu that closed in February last year.<\/p>\n<p>The new premises is approximately 50 per cent larger, and will house more than 600 turtles from over 30 species, 8World reported.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s been one-and-a-half years&#8230; Our new home will be bigger than before, with new programmes, turtles and photo spots for everyone,&#8221; the museum said in a TikTok video on Thursday.<em><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>According to museum owner Connie Tan, constructing the new space \u2014 which includes amenities such as tables, chairs and rest areas \u2014 cost over $2 million.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The majority of the sum went towards building the museum&#8217;s basic infrastructure.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Connie also used her retirement savings to fund the construction, she told 8World.<\/p>\n<p>While there are some outstanding contractor fees, Connie hopes to pay them off through the museum&#8217;s revenue after it reopens.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\ud83d\udc22Turtles&amp;apos; MOVE IN DAY~!\ud83d\ude0d\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/1LJ1MeBsrGo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Besides the new premises, another change visitors may notice is in the ticket prices.<\/p>\n<p>There are three pricing categories for Singaporeans and permanent residents: Category A for three-to-six-year-olds, Category B for those aged seven and above, and Category C for those aged 60 and above.<\/p>\n<p>The prices have increased by $1 across the board. Category B tickets now cost $11, while Category A and C tickets now go for $7.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Standard tickets for non-locals are split into Category One for three-to-six-year-olds and Category Two for those aged seven and up, and will cost $12 and $16 respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The price hike is due to rising operating costs and construction, Connie explained.<\/p>\n<p>Even with the increased ticket prices, it would still take years to recoup her investment.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is a community project.
