A commuter has taken to social media calling for a direct MRT link between Pasir Ris and Punggol stations, with his video garnering over 397,000 views within a day as netizens echoed his demands.<\/p>\n

TikToker @kaungzinye says in a post on Aug 21<\/a> that he \u201cneeds an MRT from Pasir Ris to Punggol to be built now\u201d.<\/p>\n

Pointing to the stations on an MRT map, he asks: \u201cHow is it that Sixth Avenue and Tan Kah Kee got MRT before Pasir Ris to Punggol? Do you know how many people take the bus from Pasir Ris to Punggol every single day?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jabbing his finger at the Tan Kah Kee station icon on the MRT map, he insists that \u201cno one\u201d living in the area takes public transport.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t care the Cross Island Line will take like f*cking 10 years. We need it now,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n

The Cross Island Line, which includes an extension connecting Pasir Ris to Punggol, is expected to be completed by 2030<\/a>. However, the Pasir Ris-Punggol extension is only slated to be completed by 2032.<\/p>\n

The TikToker also references New York City Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani<\/a>, amid a recent TikTok trend where New Yorkers tag the mayor in videos complaining about problems in their neighbourhoods \u2014 with some issues reportedly getting fixed shortly after.<\/p>\n

The post racked up over 450 comments, with some netizens echoing his concerns, while others were unbothered.<\/p>\n

\u201cIdk why Bukit Timah needs so many MRT stations,\u201d one netizen chimed in.<\/p>\n

Another agreed that it was an inconvenient journey from Pasir Ris to Punggol.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy is connectivity between Punggol and Pasir Ris so bad?? The buses also jam-packed all the time. So stressed sia,\u201d one commented.<\/p>\n

However, there were others who disagreed. One commenter who identified themselves as a Tan Kah Kee resident said they take the MRT regularly.<\/p>\n

Another user offered a different perspective: \u201cThe estate is mature so it\u2019s hard to build around existing landscape.\u201d<\/p>\n
