Following Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg\u2019s long letter<\/u> on his philosophy about artificial intelligence and his belief that its widespread distribution through open-source tech is the only safe and equitable path forward, Meta has launched a Mac-only AI app to empower small business owners<\/u>.\u00a0<\/p>\n
What is special about the Meta AI app<\/u> is that it operates largely like an AI Agent. According to Dhruv Vohra, Managing Director, SMB Group,\u00a0 Meta, APAC, this is of special significance in the APAC region as \u201cAsia Pacific is the home of small businesses. SMEs drive a lot of GDP and employment, and if they do well, our region does well.\u201d<\/p>\n Carrying out competitive analysis.<\/p>\n Photo: Meta<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n For example, it works together with Meta apps like Facebook and Instagram analytics and Meta Ads, and can also integrate with Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, and Slides) accounts to get insights, audit and optimise campaigns, and benchmark a business\u2019s performance against similar brands to help managers understand what\u2019s working and how to improve campaigns.<\/p>\n After this performance analysis, it can then turn its findings into report materials such as presentation decks, analysis spreadsheets, and report documents.\u00a0<\/p>\n One example Meta provided was the prompt, \u201cReview my ad performance over the last 90 days: what\u2019s working, what\u2019s not? What do my top ad sets have in common, and what should I change in the next 30 days? Then, turn the analysis into a 3-slide deck I can share with my team.\u201d<\/p>\n This would have Meta AI review the performance of a marketing campaign over the past few months, identify weaknesses, and suggest improvements. It then generates weekly reports to share with staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n As Vorha explained, \u201cWhat Meta AI can help you do as a business is plan your business strategy, plan your marketing strategy, execute on your behalf, and connect with everything that you have.\u201d<\/p>\n The move comes as many AI developers push to integrate AI agents into apps<\/u>, with some even running on a Mac<\/u>. But Meta AI\u2019s major selling point is that it\u2019s free, with Meta having no plans yet to start charging for its use. It did not, however, rule out tiered pricing in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n This comes shortly after Meta started charging subscriptions<\/u> for Plus versions of Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp. However, Vohra came back to his CEO\u2019s letter, saying, \u201cMeta\u2019s vision is that some of the goodness of AI should be available to the maximum number of people, with very little barrier to accessing it.\u201d<\/p>\n It is currently available for download from the Meta AI website<\/u>.
