YouTube has just announced new price hikes to its YouTube Premium plans across the board, with the individual plan now costing S$15.98\/month<\/b>, up from S$13.98\/month previously.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Both the YouTube Premium Student plan and YouTube Premium Lite also see price increases, with a small increase for both, bringing the new prices up to S$9.98\/month<\/b> and S$8.98\/month<\/b> respectively.<\/p>\n

The YouTube Premium Family plan is now S$31.98\/month<\/b>, up from S$27.98\/month. Despite the price increase, this is still the best value plan if you have four other people to share access with, since it works out to S$6.40\/month per person.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re subscribing to YouTube Premium via the App Store on an iOS device, it gets even more expensive. The individual plan is getting bumped from S$17.98\/month to S$20.98\/month<\/b>, while the family plan is priced at S$39.98\/month<\/b>, a whole S$8 more than you would have paid if you had subscribed via YouTube\u2019s website.\u00a0<\/p>\n

So if you\u2019re looking to save a bit of money and you\u2019re currently subscribed through the App Store, you\u2019ll be able to save a decent chunk just by switching to a subscription via YouTube\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Wondering why one would pay for YouTube instead of simply using ad-blockers? The common answer for most people would be access to YouTube Music. You\u2019ll be able to listen to songs from the YouTube Music app in the background, with an extensive library of covers, live performances and more available.\u00a0<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll also be able to download videos to watch offline, and certain videos offer enhanced bitrate 1080p options for better video quality. TV users also have the option to stream some videos in 4K when watching on the big screen, instead of being limited to 1080p.\u00a0<\/p>\n

If you\u2019re saving a bit of money and considering subscribing to Premium Lite, the major difference is that this plan does not support ad-free streaming, background play and downloads for music content like official music videos, covers, dance videos, and more. It also does not include access to the ad-free YouTube Music app.<\/p>\n

For non-music content, you\u2019ll still be able to watch those videos without ads, offline, and in the background. So if you already have a subscription to Spotify or Apple Music and you just want to get rid of ads when watching videos on YouTube, Premium Lite might be a better option.<\/p>\n

The last time YouTube increased prices for its Premium plans was in September 2024, and it follows the slew of subscription price increases over the last year from brands like Netflix<\/u>, Apple<\/u>, Microsoft<\/u>, Spotify<\/u> and more.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
