{"id":77442,"date":"2026-08-18T17:11:05","date_gmt":"2026-08-18T09:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=77442"},"modified":"2026-08-18T17:11:05","modified_gmt":"2026-08-18T09:11:05","slug":"the-357-year-old-buddhist-text-in-taiwan-said-to-bring-lifetimes-of-luck-with-one-glimpse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=77442","title":{"rendered":"The 357-year-old Buddhist text in Taiwan said to bring lifetimes of luck with one glimpse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Could merely glimpsing a 357-year-old Buddhist manuscript really grant you seven lifetimes of good fortune?<\/p>\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\">An old Chinese folk belief regarding the Tibetan Dragon Canon has recently been revived on social media as the monumental <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Qing dynasty<\/span> (1644-1911) scripture takes pride of place in \u201cTibetan Dragon Canon: A Symphony of Imperial Power, Belief and Art in a Golden Age\u201d, an exhibition at Taipei\u2019s National Palace Museum.<\/div>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">While it is impossible to trace the origin of the <em data-qa=\"ContentSchemaRender-defaultRenderMapFunctions-Component\" class=\"css-1mniedq ex3nmsa15\">qishi fubao<\/em> \u2013 good karma for seven lifetimes \u2013 myth, it has exploded into a viral phenomenon. Some of those who have been to the exhibition even claim they sensed a powerful energy and got goosebumps in the text\u2019s presence.<\/p>\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\">The monumental 108-volume manuscript was completed in 1669, two years after it was commissioned by the <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Kangxi Emperor<\/span> (1654-1722) at the behest of his grandmother, <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Grand Empress Dowager Xiaozhuangwen<\/span> (1613-1688), who asked her grandson to make her a gold-inked collection of all of the Buddha\u2019s teachings, or sutras, recognised in the Tibetan Buddhist canon.<\/div>\n<div class=\"image-inline-container e1a5rv550 css-1llrc1m e1yqhwb40\" data-qa=\"Component-renderMap-StyledDiv\">\n<div class=\"image-inline caption e1fvabeq0 css-19sk4h4 ea9pn0s0\" data-qa=\"Component-Container\">\n<figure class=\"image-inline caption ea9pn0s1 css-d3pq8q e1gf69pb0\" data-qa=\"ArticleImage-ArticleImageContainer\">\n<div data-qa=\"ArticleImage-handleRenderImage-ImageContainer\" class=\"css-bjn8wh e1gf69pb3\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The imperial preface to the Tibetan Dragon Canon, written by the Emperor Kangxi.
