Fans will also have the option to design their own controller, as the Xbox Design Lab has been updated with a new&nbsp;Emergence Day-themed skin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Priced at $90, the Gears of War: E-Day controller draws inspiration from the holes that the Locust spewed from on E-Day, as the design features cracked asphalt and the iconic Crimson Omen that builds up when you&#8217;re nearly dead in the Gears games. The illustrations have been laser-etched onto the controller, and other neat details include blacked-out ABY buttons, a transparent red X button, matching red triggers, and a transparent D-pad. The design has endured well since its debut, as the controller can also be used on PC, smartphones, and tablets, has a strong battery life, and is quite comfy for those long gaming sessions. This controller will be sold through local retailers, or you can order one directly from the Microsoft Store.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8BitDo&#8211;which makes some pretty great controllers for PC and consoles&#8211;will also be dropping an official charging dock for this peripheral, and yes, it also has that grimy Gears of War battlefield aesthetic. Like its other chargers, it&#8217;s compatible with both Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One controllers, includes an 8BitDo rechargeable battery pack, and the dock features magnetic alignment for easy drop-and-charge functionality.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The other option is a custom controller featuring\u00a0exclusive artwork by renowned heavy metal illustrator Luke Preece. The designer has created striking images for heavy metal groups, including tour posters, merchandise, and album covers. Preece also illustrated the official physical vinyl release and packaging for the Gears 5 soundtrack vinyl, and this new controller design features a skull perched atop crossed Lancers and\u00a0surrounded by <em>more<\/em> skulls. Metal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can choose the illustration as an option for a Design Labs Xbox controller starting September 30.\u00a0Gears of War: E-Day launches for Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 6, and so far, it&#8217;s shaping up to be the comeback that the franchise needs.
