--smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 1440\/1919;\"\/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-753452\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Source: David Neo on Facebook<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3>Tampines fire involved electric mahjong table in 9th-floor unit<\/h3>\n<p>In response to queries from <em>MS News<\/em>, SCDF said it was alerted to the fire at about 9.30pm on 8 Aug.<\/p>\n<p>It involved an electric mahjong table in a unit on the ninth floor of Block 449 Tampines Street 42.<\/p>\n<p>The blaze was extinguished by members of the public using buckets of water before SCDF arrived.<\/p>\n<h3>Elderly man sent to hospital, another person injured<\/h3>\n<p>The Singapore Police Force (SPF), which was alerted at the same time, told <em>MS News<\/em> that an 86-year-old man was sent to the hospital in a conscious state.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t<iframe id=\"answers-client-6a7bc65155ff8\" class=\"answers-client\" src=\"\" height=\"500\" loading=\"lazy\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>He was conveyed to Singapore General Hospital, SCDF said.<\/p>\n<p>Another person was assessed for minor injuries, but they declined to be sent to the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of the fire is under investigation.<\/p>\n<h3>Resident discharged from hospital<\/h3>\n<p>Mr Neo, who is also an MP for Tampines GRC, said in his Facebook post that the resident has since been discharged from the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>He visited the man the next day and was glad to know that he was \u201cdoing well\u201d, he added.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_753453\" style=\"width: 910px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-753453\" class=\"wp-image-753453 size-full lazyload\" src=\"https:\/\/mustsharenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/david-neo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"900\" height=\"1200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mustsharenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/david-neo.jpg 900w, https:\/\/mustsharenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/david-neo-450x600.jpg 450w, https:\/\/mustsharenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/david-neo-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/mustsharenews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/david-neo-113x150.jpg 113w\" data-sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 900px;
