{"id":75417,"date":"2026-08-10T14:13:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-10T06:13:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=75417"},"modified":"2026-08-10T14:13:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-10T06:13:00","slug":"four-languages-one-heart-sia-serenades-singaporeans-with-song-and-dance-on-national-day-singapore-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=75417","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Four languages, one heart&#8217;: SIA serenades Singaporeans with song and dance on National Day, Singapore News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div xmlns:default=\"https:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg\">\n<p>Their work may take them to many places around the world, but there&#8217;s only one country they call home.<\/p>\n<p>The stewards and stewardesses of Singapore Airlines (SIA) have put together a performance for all Singaporeans in a video shared on SIA&#8217;s Instagram page on Friday (Aug 9) \u2014 our country&#8217;s 61st birthday.<\/p>\n<p>The video begins with a flight steward, Kelvin, playing a violin, while stewardess Lei Hoi plays a guzheng.<\/p>\n<p>Leading steward Jasper, dressed in a short-sleeved <em>batik<\/em> shirt, then eases into the first song of the performance: Semoga Bahagia, composed by Zubir Said.<\/p>\n<p>Zubir Said also composed Singapore&#8217;s national anthem, Majulah Singapura.<\/p>\n<p>The music then shifts into a familiar, upbeat tune, as stewardesses Michelle and Michele, as well as chief stewardess Natasha, dance to the beat of Munnaeru Vaalibaa.<\/p>\n<p>Fauzaan, also a leading steward, takes the Tamil song in stride with a powerful voice, singing with energy while donning a <em>songkok <\/em>and long-sleeved <em>batik<\/em> shirt.<\/p>\n<p>Following his performance, stewardess Aura, dressed in a <em>nyonya kebaya<\/em>, takes charge as she begins singing &#8220;Xiao Ren Wu De Xin Sheng&#8221;, also known as &#8220;The Voice of the Ordinary People&#8221; (transliteration), a famous Xinyao classic.<\/p>\n<p>Flight stewardess Catherine \u2014 also dressed in a <em>nyonya kebaya<\/em> \u2014 joins in, continuing the song as Aura ends her segment of the performance.<\/p>\n<p>All singers who participated thus far then jump straight into the chorus of Singapura, Sunny Island, another well-known National Day song, as their performance reaches a climax.<\/p>\n<p>The group then returns to the song that they began with, Semoga Bahagia, this time dressed in SIA&#8217;s iconic <em>batik sarong kebaya <\/em>for the ladies and formal wear for men.<\/p>\n<p>Singaporeans around the world can then be seen in short video snippets, sharing their well-wishes for Singapore on the nation&#8217;s birthday as the video ends.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Happy 61st birthday, Singapore,&#8221; SIA wrote in their Instagram post.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Four languages. One heart.
