The photos, taken along the MacRitchie Nature Trail, sparked interest among nature enthusiasts, with some pointing out what appeared to be a frog in the snake’s mouth. According to The Straits Times (ST), the reptile was identified as a blue-necked keelback, a rare species that is both venomous and poisonous. In response to ST’s queries, the National Parks Board (NParks) said on Aug. 4 that it was aware of the sighting. “The blue-necked keelback snake can be found in mature secondary, primary and swamp forests within the Central Catchment nature reserve and surrounding nature parks,” NParks’ group director of wildlife management told ST.
