One of the best parts of travelling is wandering through a foreign supermarket and discovering snacks you can’t find back home.<\/p>\n
So imagine flying all the way to Seoul… only to stumble upon FairPrice instead.<\/p>\n
That’s exactly what happened to one Singaporean holidaymaker, who did a double take after spotting shelves stocked with NTUC FairPrice products while shopping at a supermarket in the South Korean capital.<\/p>\n
In a video shared on social media, the amused netizen showed rows of familiar FairPrice Own Brand products, including kaya, instant noodles and cream crackers.<\/p>\n
Probably not what you’d expect to see thousands of kilometres away from Singapore.<\/p>\n
The clip quickly amused fellow Singaporeans, many of whom shared that they had also spotted FairPrice products overseas.<\/p>\n
“FairPrice chips in Bali,” one netizen commented, posting a photo as proof that Seoul isn’t the only place where the supermarket chain has quietly expanded its footprint.<\/p>\n
Another quipped: “Can use CDC vouchers?”<\/p>\n
As surprising as it seemed, the products didn’t end up on Korean shelves by accident.<\/p>\n
In August 2024, FairPrice Group partnered South Korean retail giant Lotte Retail to bring its FairPrice Own Brand products to Lotte Mart and Lotte Super outlets across South Korea.<\/p>\n
The collaboration goes both ways, with Lotte’s private-label brands, including Yorihada and Good Today, also available at selected FairPrice and Cheers outlets in Singapore.<\/p>\n
A FairPrice spokesperson told 8days.sg that the partnership is part of the group’s efforts to introduce the flavours of Singapore to overseas consumers through its trusted FairPrice Own Brand range.<\/p>\n
Products currently available in South Korea include local favourites such as Nyonya Kaya, Cream Crackers, Curry and White Pepper Instant Noodles, as well as best-selling snacks like Roasted Corn & Garlic Cashews and its award-winning potato chips in Roasted Corn and Black Garlic Ramen flavours.<\/p>\n
“Through this partnership, we hope to share the unique flavours of Singapore while introducing more consumers to the quality of our FairPrice products,” the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
So if you ever find yourself craving kaya while holidaying in Seoul, you now know exactly where to look.<\/p>\n
The spokesperson added that FairPrice Own Brand products are also available in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines and China.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
