You might remember Palworld<\/b>, the survival game where you tame cute monsters to do your bidding. You might also remember that the game\u2019s developers, Pocketpair<\/b>, are currently entangled in a lawsuit with Nintendo and The Pokemon Company, the makers of another game where you tame cute monsters to do your bidding.<\/p>\n
Of course, both Palworld and Pokemon are incredibly different games beyond the superficial premises. And while the lawsuit has yet to conclude, and with Palworld as popular as ever, Pocketpair apparently considers itself in a strong enough position to begin licensing the IP to other publishers.<\/p>\n
Enter Garena<\/b>, which has announced that it\u2019s developing and publishing Palworld Online<\/b>, an open-world survival game that sees Palworld\u2019s gameplay transplanted into an MMORPG<\/b> setting.<\/p>\n
This includes opportunities to build settlements with other players, engage in co-op activities (PvE and PvP), and generally explore the world together. All this sounds pretty similar to the original Palworld game, though Garena is touting an original story, alongside exclusive side stories made just for this game.<\/p>\n
As an MMORPG, it\u2019ll probably also expand Palworld\u2019s 4-player co-op limit (or 32-player limit for dedicated servers).<\/p>\n
Garena is also developing this for the mobile market, emphasising that it\u2019s optimising gameplay mechanics specifically for touchscreens. We\u2019ll have to see how that pans out when it does come to mobile, as well as whether it\u2019ll be a paid game or remain free with microtransactions.<\/p>\n
The game is set to release later this year, though Garena hasn\u2019t mentioned whether it will be mobile exclusive. Though to be fair, considering that the original game is already available on PC and console, the mobile market is probably the most in need of a new Palworld title.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
