That is why I call my brand Dirtyfinger,\u201d says the Hong Kong-born German-Chinese wunderkind.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The 18-year-old happily rolls up her sleeves for activities such as sorting through rubbish in search of material for an art installation or hand-mending repurposed fabric for one-of-a-kind fashion pieces. On those same sleeves, she proudly wears her eco-green agenda. Sustainability and environmentalism are not just slogans; they are the core ethos of her art and fashion design.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cThe whole thing with sustainability started when I moved to Bali in 2021,\u201d Doeringer recalls. \u201cThat\u2019s when I saw first-hand the negative impact of waste pollution.\u201d<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">During the Covid-19 pandemic her family decided to escape to the Indonesian island, where she studied at Green School. The international school places a high value on education that focuses on environmental protection, sustainability and ecological science. It did not take long for Doeringer to be inculcated with the ideology through activities such as beach clean-ups.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">\u201cSeeing all the plastic on the beaches, I was really shocked,\u201d she recalls. \u201cThat is when I started to do art surrounding this theme. I wanted to raise awareness about pollution. I started to use the trash I collected from beach clean-ups to create art.\u201d<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The results were exhibited across six venues in and around Bali.
