And now Valve has come out with a blog post, saying anyone currently with a reservation list email will be able to buy the Steam Machine by the end of the year. <\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">When the Steam Machine first came out, Valve put up a page allowing people to reserve the Steam Machine. Then, accounts were chosen at random and either placed on a reservation list or a waitlist. Valve said in its blog that some people might move off of the waitlist and onto the reservation list depending on the region. In some regions, even, Valve has fulfilled its reservation list. <\/p>\n<p><span data-cy=\"poll-view-trigger\"><\/p>\n<section class=\"box-wrapper jsx-2673806401\"\/><\/span><\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">Valve told me in June that it expected to struggle to fulfill demand for the Steam Machine due to the ongoing RAM crisis. I don&#8217;t know how much demand is there, but at least in my region, the Steam Machine is at the top of the Top Sellers list. Valve will probably never reveal exactly how many units it sells. <\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">The company also took the opportunity to release the CAD files for the Steam Machine&#8217;s exterior, so you can finally 3D print your own skins and face plates. Valve has also released FSR 4.1 support onto the experimental fork of Proton, for games that support FSR upgrade. <\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\">The Steam Machine has had a bit of a rocky launch. Not only did the RAM crisis \u2013 which is getting worse \u2013 force Valve to release the mini PC for a much higher price than it originally planned, but the company has had to reword its performance claims, too. It doesn&#8217;t help that the Steam Machine is only about as powerful as the base PS5, but you can easily build a PC with SteamOS and better performance, if you don&#8217;t mind a bigger machine. <\/p>\n<p data-cy=\"paragraph\" class=\"paragraph jsx-2269604527\"><em>Jackie Thomas is the Hardware and Buying Guides Editor at IGN and the PC components queen.
