The first model, codenamed J490, reportedly features a 7-inch display mounted on a half-dome-shaped base, making it suitable for placement on kitchen counters, bedside tables, or desks. The second variant, codenamed J491, is designed for wall mounting and will feature a new magnetic mounting system.

The smart home hub is expected to run a new operating system built on tvOS while incorporating interface elements from both watchOS and iOS. Bloomberg claims the device will use facial recognition to identify who is standing in front of it, estimate their distance from the display, and dynamically personalise the interface. Depending on the user, it could surface relevant information such as calendars, reminders, notes, smart home controls and other personalised content in his/her preferred layout and font size.

Designed to become the central command hub for Apple’s smart home ecosystem, the device is also expected to support FaceTime calls, home security monitoring and an intercom feature for communicating between rooms. Users will reportedly be able to control compatible smart home accessories, manage connected appliances, browse photos, check their schedules and stream music.

Bloomberg believes Apple is targeting a launch window between October and early next year, with the smart home hub expected to debut alongside a refreshed Apple TV and an updated HomePod mini this fall.

Looking further ahead, Apple is reportedly working on a more ambitious version of the smart home hubub, equipped with a robotic arm that can physically reposition the display to follow users around a room. The company is also believed to be developing a dedicated in-home security camera.

Source: Bloomberg

With Siri AI slated to debut later this year, Apple is reportedly preparing a renewed push into the smart home market, with a long-rumoured smart…

[32
4428,469,6522,17222,8946,1225
post-72829","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tech-gadgets-reviews","tag-apples","tag-home","tag-hub","tag-rumoured","tag-siri","tag-smart","wpcat-32-id
["GET
