Well, Apple TV is now having a go at it and has unleashed the first teaser for its upcoming 10-episode adaptation during its San Diego Comic-Con panel.

<picture></picture>Play

Callum Turner, who plays the series’ lead character Case, made a surprise virtual appearance at the panel to introduce the teaser. Case is described as a damaged but highly skilled hacker who finds himself pulled into a world of digital espionage and high-stakes crime. He eventually partners Molly, played by Briana Middleton, a cybernetically enhanced “razor-girl” assassin, for a heist targeting a corporate dynasty hiding more than a few secrets. If that premise sounds familiar (read our Cyberpunk 2077 review), it is probably because countless cyberpunk stories that followed have borrowed from Gibson’s ideas in one form or another.

Turner and Middleton are joined by Mark Strong, Joseph Lee, Peter Sarsgaard and Clemence Poesy, with Max Irons, Dane DeHaan, Junia Rees, Jordan Kouame, Emma Laird, Marc Menchaca, André De Shields and Isabella Pappas rounding out what is a rather sizeable ensemble cast. Graham Roland and JD Dillard created the adaptation for television, with Roland also serving as showrunner and Dillard directing the opening three episodes. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios and Anonymous Content, while Gibson himself is among its executive producers.

What is Neuromancer about?

First published in 1984, Neuromancer is often credited as one of the defining works of the cyberpunk genre, although reducing its influence to cyberpunk alone probably understates what Gibson achieved. Its depiction of cyberspace, artificial intelligence and corporations wielding enormous power went on to influence generations of science-fiction books, films and games. The book won the Hugo, Nebula and Philip K. Dick awards, and later became the first entry in Gibson’s Sprawl trilogy, followed by Count Zero and Mona Lisa Overdrive.

When is it showing?

Neuromancer will premiere globally on Apple TV on 22 January 2027 with two episodes. The remaining episodes will arrive weekly every Friday, with the season concluding on 19 March.

For a novel that helped shape how popular culture thinks about hackers, cyberspace and powerful technology companies, William Gibson’s Neuromancer has taken an awfully long…

[32
2908,156,27383
post-72647","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-tech-gadgets-reviews","tag-adaptation","tag-apple","tag-neuromancer","wpcat-32-id
["GET
