The most beloved animal in the country is everywhere, from street murals to subway advertisements, and it sits at the centre of the city\u2019s cultural identity and tourism boom.<\/p>\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\"><span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Giant pandas<\/span> are only found in China. The total number of live giant pandas is believed to be about 1,800, and the cool and humid bamboo forests in the mountains of Sichuan province, of which Chengdu is the capital, are home to 72 per cent of them.<\/div>\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\">The city has transformed this ecological trait into a <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">powerful tourism brand<\/span>.
