Thermaltake<\/b> has launched its new AX 3200W Platinum Power Supply<\/b>, a new PSU that, as you can probably tell, breaks the 3000W barrier. The wattage that this new PSU supplies is twice as much as the ones that we\u2019re used to, though that isn\u2019t to say this is a new product category \u2013 Asus and Corsair have put out their own 3000W PSUs, for instance. Though, 3200W is the highest we\u2019ve seen so far.<\/p>\n
If you\u2019re wondering for what purpose Thermaltake has decided to launch this, the answer is somewhat predictable: It\u2019s meant for users running machine learning models locally on a workstation with multiple GPUs.<\/p>\n
For reference, the TDP of an RTX 5090 is around 575W. While TDP isn\u2019t the end-all-be-all power draw figure, this PSU can supply four RTX 5090s with ample power for other components and overhead. Singapore\u2019s power outlets \u2013 at least when it comes to HDB wall plugs \u2013 are rated for 13A output. You can tell because the common 3-pin plugs we see shipped with products in Singapore are usually fitted with 13A fuses.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the AX 3200W is rated for a maximum current of 16A, so even if you do get your hands on this, you shouldn\u2019t plug it into a wall socket as you risk tripping your breaker or starting an electrical fire (which we never thought we\u2019d write about a PSU). In any case, HDB does not allow appliances exceeding a 15A rating.<\/p>\n As for the power supply itself, it does come with an 80 Plus Platinum rating<\/b>, so at least you know it\u2019s power-efficient. Thermaltake says it can handle up to a 200% power excursion<\/b>. It comes with an ATX 3.1<\/b> standard, and if you need any more indication that this is meant to support multiple GPUs, it comes with four PCIe 5.1 (12V-2×6) connectors<\/b>, each rated for 600W. Finally, it comes with 140mm dual ball-bearing fans for cooling.<\/p>\n Thermaltake has not given a price or availability for the AX 3200W. Given that the 16A\/230-240V rating knocks it out of most homes without special electrical setups, its customer base probably lies outside the conventional gaming consumer market.
