A Somali tourist\u2019s video praising Singapore for its safety and friendly people has gone viral, with netizens saying the scariest thing here are ghosts.\u00a0<\/p>\n
TikToker @Ilyaselmi__ says in the reel shared on July 11 that the best part about his trip to Singapore was not the sightseeing or the food, but that he can be out at night alone<\/a> and it\u2019s safe because \u201cnobody\u2019s doing nothing\u201d.<\/p>\n He says he doesn\u2019t want to glaze (internet-speak for praise) this place but, \u201cSingapore is slowly creeping up the list. It hasn\u2019t even been a day,\u201d he says, probably referring to his own list of best places to visit<\/a>.<\/p>\n He adds that it is a great place for solo female travelers<\/a> and for anybody who is travelling for the first time.<\/p>\n \u201cI really do suggest this place to my sisters, y\u2019all, because it\u2019s really safe. You can come here solo if you want. You\u2019ll be fine. You\u2019ll be completely fine, y\u2019all.\u201d<\/p>\n He says he is impressed with how kind people here are.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cThe people here are so nice. They\u2019re so down-to-earth. I haven\u2019t run into one bad interaction since I\u2019ve been here so far. Everybody\u2019s talkative. Everybody\u2019s treating you so nice,\u201d he says.<\/p>\n Singaporean netizens appreciated his praise for the country but also offered their own amusing take on how safe Singapore is.<\/p>\n \u201cJust nice to hear Singapore in a positive light<\/a>,\u201d said a netizen. \u201cThanks so much for all the positive compliments about our country,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n Various netizens agreed with Ilyas about Singapore being safe and that the only danger at night was from the supernatural.<\/p>\n \u201cScariest part about Singapore at night would be ghosts<\/a>,\u201d said a netizen in jest.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWe\u2019re more afraid of ghostly encounters than muggers at 2-3am. That\u2019s how safe Singapore is,\u201d said another.<\/p>\n Some were surprised that he thought Singaporeans were talkative.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat do you mean everybody talkative?\u201d asked a TikTok user, to which Ilyas replied:\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know, everybody was giving energy.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTalkative???? Oh, the cabbies<\/a>,\u201d another commented.<\/p>\n Several netizens said that Singapore is boring.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s the most boring place in the world,\u201d said one netizen. Ilyas replied: \u201cI wasn\u2019t bored.\u201d<\/p>\n Some replied to the charge that Singapore is boring.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t want too much excitement if it means having shootouts and being robbed when I take a walk through the park,\u201d said a netizen.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s boring because it lacks volatility. Any place that is stable and extremely safe will be boring. You want excitement, you should date a psycho or have five kids,\u201d another said.<\/p>\n Several netizens took exception to his description of Singapore as \u201ccreeping up the list\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cBro, my country Singapore is not just creeping up…it\u2019s already way up there a long time ago,\u201d said one. \u201cWe\u2019re already at the top!\u201d another insisted.<\/p>\n Have something to say?
