been steadily rising over the past few months.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/t-bill-allotment-16-jul-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">latest yield on the 6-month Singapore T-bill reached 1.55% in the latest 6-month T-bill auction.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Likewise,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/insights\/savings\/singapore-best-fixed-deposit-rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fixed deposit rates in Singapore have also started to climb higher again.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>This has sparked some discussion in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/BeansproutSG\">Beansprout community<\/a> about <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/tbills-vs-fixed-deposit-vs-ssb-yield-july-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">where is the best place to park cash for higher yields.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In this article, I will I will be looking at some of the latest indicators to find out if it is worthwhile applying for the upcoming\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mas.gov.sg\/bonds-and-bills\/auctions-and-issuance-calendar\/auction-t-bill?issue_code=BY26102T&amp;issue_date=2026-07-28\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1-year Singapore T-bill auction (BY26102T)<\/a> on 23 July 2026, and how it compared to the 6-month Singapore T-bill and fixed deposits.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">Like the 6-month Singapore T-bill yield, the 10-year Singapore government bond yield has fluctuated in recent months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>After falling to around 1.75% in September 2025, the Singapore 10-year government bond yield climbed to about 2.41% at the end of March 2026 amid heightened Middle East tensions and concerns that higher oil prices could add to inflation.<\/p>\n<p>The yield subsequently eased before rising again to about 2.22% as of 17 July 2026.<\/p>\n<p>These movements reflect changing expectations for US interest rates and inflation, as well as shifts in demand for government bonds amid geopolitical uncertainty.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/quote\/sg-10y-government-bond-yield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1132\/555;\" yield.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>The closing yield on the 1-year T-bill was 1.45% as of 17 July 2026, <\/strong>hovering near <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/t-bill-allotment-16-apr-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the 1.46% cut-off yield seen in the April 1-year T-bill auction<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" auction may differ from the closing yield, as it will depend on the bids in the auction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">From the past few rounds of the 1-year T-bill auctions, we can see that demand for the T-bill has been fairly elevated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">This has put pressure on the cut-off yield of the 1-year T-bill.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:1186\/469;\" T-bill?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">Rather than applying for the 1-year T-bill, one option to consider is to invest in two consecutive tranches of 6-month T-bills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">Specifically, we could invest in the upcoming 6-month T-bill auction on 30 July 2026, and reinvest the funds again when the T-bill matures in February 2027.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">If we apply for the next 6-month T-bill which will be issued on 4 August the maturity date would be on 2 February 2027. We could then choose to reinvest based on the prevailing interest rates <\/span>at that time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/singapore-t-bill-ssb-bond-ladder\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">You can find out how to to construct a T-bill and SSB bond ladder here.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">However, it is now less certain whether we will see further interest rate cuts, or potentially interest rate hikes in the next 6 months.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"raw-html-embed\"><iframe src=\"https:\/\/flo.uri.sh\/visualisation\/13519445\/embed\" title=\"Interactive or visual content\" class=\"flourish-embed-iframe\" scrolling=\"no\" style=\"width:100%;height:600px;\" sandbox=\"allow-same-origin allow-forms allow-scripts allow-downloads allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<div style=\"width:100%!;margin-top:4px!important;text-align:right!important;\"><a class=\"flourish-credit\" href=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/visualisation\/13519445\/?utm_source=embed&amp;utm_campaign=visualisation\/13519445\" target=\"_top\" style=\"text-decoration:none!important\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Made with Flourish\" src=\"https:\/\/public.flourish.studio\/resources\/made_with_flourish.svg\" style=\"width:105px!important;height:16px!important;border:none!important;margin:0!important;\"\/> <\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>With the current closing yield of 1.45% on the 1-year Singapore T-bill being lower than the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/t-bill-allotment-16-jul-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cut-off yield of 1.55% in the most recent 6-month T-bill auctio<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/t-bill-allotment-9-oct-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">n<\/a>, I will ask myself if I would want to\u00a0lock in this lower rate now for 12 months.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/tools\/fedwatch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">latest US interest rate expectations<\/a>, markets now expect the US Federal Reserve to keep interest rates unchanged at its July meeting. Currently, the best\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/insights\/savings\/singapore-best-fixed-deposit-rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1-year fixed deposit rate we found is at 1.60% p.a<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This would be higher than the latest closing yield of 1.45% on the 1-year T-bill.<\/p>\n<p>For shorter tenures, the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/insights\/savings\/singapore-best-fixed-deposit-rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best 6-month fixed deposit rate is at 1.50% p.a and the best 9-month fixed deposit rate is at 1.52% p.a.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"buying-1-year-t-bill-\u2013-better-than-singapore-savings-bonds?\"><span style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">Buying 1-year T-bill \u2013 better than Singapore Savings Bonds<\/span>?<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/tools\/ssb-interest-rate-projection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">current issuance of the Singapore Savings Bonds (SSB) offer a 1-year return of 1.46%.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:transparent;color:#000000;\">This is close to the current closing yield on the 1-year Singapore T-bill.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:#ffffff;color:#121212;\">Apart from offering a 1-year return of 1.46%, the latest SSB also allows us to lock-in a rate of 2.06% over 10 years, while having the flexibility to redeem prior to maturity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"what-would-beansprout-do?\">What would Beansprout do?<\/h2>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">With the recent global geopolitical tensions, I have been evaluating my financial plan to make sure it offers me sufficient security and peace of mind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">The first step is to make sure I have sufficient cash put aside for emergency uses through my liquidity pot, where I would then put into a mix of savings accounts, fixed deposits, T-bills, SSBs and money market funds.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Then, I would see how I can earn a higher yield on this pot of emergency cash, while maintaining the liquidity I may need.<\/p>\n<p>The current closing yield of the 1-year Singapore T-bill is 1.45%, which is lower than the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/t-bill-allotment-16-jul-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent 6-month T-bill cut-off yield of 1.55%.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>As a result, I would not apply for the 1-year T-bill purely to earn the highest available yield.<\/p>\n<p>However, I may still consider it if I value the certainty of fixing my return for 12 months and do not want to make another reinvestment decision when a 6-month T-bill matures.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, the 1-year T-bill closing yield is also lower than the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/insights\/savings\/singapore-best-fixed-deposit-rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best\u00a01-year fixed deposit rate,\u00a0<\/a>which is currently at 1.60% p.a.<\/p>\n<p>One of the other options to consider is the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/tools\/ssb-interest-rate-projection\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Singapore Savings Bonds (SSB)<\/a>, which offers a 1-year return of 1.46% and average annual return of 2.06% over 10 years,\u00a0while having the flexibility to redeem prior to maturity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">I compare savings accounts, fixed deposits, T-bills, SSBs and money market funds.<a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/tbills-vs-fixed-deposit-vs-ssb-yield-july-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> to find the best places to park your cash in July 2026 here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Ultimately, the best option depends on whether I prioritise a locked-in yield today, or greater flexibility for my cash.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">By finding the
