According to Bloomberg, OpenAI\u2019s first AI hardware product is a portable smart speaker.<\/b> Like many smart speakers on the market today, the device reportedly has no display, putting voice and conversational AI at the heart of the user experience.<\/p>\n
The ChatGPT-powered <\/b>device is said to be capable of controlling smart home accessories<\/b>, answering questions, playing media, and replying to messages. In many ways, it sounds like a more advanced take on today\u2019s smart speakers, but with OpenAI\u2019s generative AI technology powering the experience.<\/p>\n
By leveraging GPT-Live,<\/b> the smart speaker could learn more about its user over time and tailor its responses accordingly. The goal is reportedly to make the device more personalised and proactive, allowing it to anticipate the user\u2019s needs and \u201cconnect on a humanlike level with users\u201d.<\/p>\n
The device may also be far more physically expressive than a conventional smart speaker. Other rumoured features include mechanical components<\/b> that can move autonomously<\/b>, a camera to understand the user\u2019s surroundings, and a rechargeable battery.<\/p>\n
OpenAI\u2019s smart speaker is also believed to be at the centre of an ongoing legal dispute with Apple<\/b>.
