href=\"https:\/\/www.mas.gov.sg\/bonds-and-bills\/auctions-and-issuance-calendar\/auction-t-bill?issue_code=BS26114W&amp;issue_date=2026-07-21\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Singapore T-bill auction (BS26114W)<\/a> will be on 16 July.<\/p>\n<p>In the previous auction on 2 July, the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/t-bill-allotment-2-jul-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cut-off yield for the 6-month Singapore T-bill rose to 1.50%<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/t-bill-allotment-18-june-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the yield of 1.47% in the previous auction on 18 June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With the cut-off yield rising, <span style=\"background-color:rgb(255,255,255);color:rgb(18,18,18);\">I have seen more discussion in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/BeansproutSG\">Beansprout community<\/a><span style=\"background-color:rgb(255,255,255);color:rgb(18,18,18);\"> about whether Singapore T-bill yield could continue to increase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:rgb(255,255,255);color:rgb(18,18,18);\">In this article, I\u2019ll look at some of the latest indicators to help us understand yield moved higher<\/h3>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/quote\/us-10y-government-bond-yield\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10-year US government bond yield has increased to 4.54% as of 10 July 2026<\/a>, above its level of 4.38% two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>US government bond yields rose earlier in the week as renewed US-Iran tensions pushed oil prices higher, raising concerns that an energy price shock could keep inflation elevated.<\/p>\n<p>At its most recent meeting, the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/tools\/fedwatch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Federal Reserve also raised its inflation outlook for 2026.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/quote\/us-10y-government-bond-yield\" target=\"_blank\" 2.14% as of 10 July 2026, higher from 2.03% two weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>The increase in the 10-year yield largely mirrored the steep rise in the US 10-year government bond yield.<\/p>\n<p>You can <a Singapore government bonds.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eservices.mas.gov.sg\/statistics\/masbills\/MASBillsAuctions.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cut-off yield was at 1.47%<\/a> in the auction on 7 July 2026, higher <span style=\"background-color:rgb(255,255,255);color:rgb(18,18,18);\">than the<\/span> cut-off yield of 1.42% on 30 June.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><img billion, higher than the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/t-bill-allotment-2-jul-2026\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previous auction size of $8.7 billion on 2 July<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This also represents the highest level of 6-month T-bills issued, above the previous high of $8.7 billion on 2 July 2026.<\/p>\n<div class=\"raw-html-embed\"><iframe auction on 2 July from S$19.4 billion in the auction on 18 June.<\/p>\n<p>If demand remains unchanged in the upcoming auction, the larger amount of T-bills issued may help to support the cut-off yield id=\"what-would-beansprout-do?\">What would Beansprout do?<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"background-color:white;\">The closing yield on the 6-month Singapore T-bill was at 1.49% on 9 July 2026<strong>,<\/strong><\/span> close to the cut-off yield in the previous auction.<\/p>\n<p>We have also seen a rise across all yields in both Singapore and the US.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, there will be a larger amount of T-bills issued in the upcoming auction.<\/p>\n<p>This may mean that the 6-month Singapore T-bill yield may stay supported.<\/p>\n<div class=\"raw-html-embed\"><iframe evaluating my financial plan to make sure it offers me sufficient security and peace of mind.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:0px;\">The first step is to make sure I have sufficient cash put aside for emergency uses through my <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/liquidity-pot\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">liquidity pot<\/a> within <a style=\"margin-left:0px;\">Then, I would see how I can earn a higher yield on this pot of emergency cash, while maintaining the liquidity I may need.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, the closing yield on the 6-month Singapore T-bill of 1.49% is slightly below the <a href=\"https:\/\/growbeansprout.com\/insights\/savings\/singapore-best-fixed-deposit-rate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best 6-month fixed deposit rate of 1.50% p.a.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If I can set aside at least S$20,000 for 9, 12 or 13 months, I would also consider Singapura Finance\u2019s over-the-counter fixed deposit promotion, which offers rates of up to 1.55% p.a. on fresh funds.
