SINGAPORE \u2013 A\u00a014-year-old cyclist\u00a0was taken to hospital on\u00a0July 11\u00a0after an accident with a car in Jurong East.<\/p>\n
A video on social media appears to show the boy trapped under the vehicle.<\/p>\n
A\u00a048-year-old male\u00a0car driver\u00a0is assisting with police investigations.<\/p>\n
The police and the\u00a0Singapore Civil Defence Force, which\u00a0were alerted to the accident\u00a0in Jurong Gateway Road towards Jurong East Street 13 at about 1.25pm,\u00a0said the cyclist was taken conscious to\u00a0National University Hospital.<\/p>\n
In a video posted by Facebook user Toto Momz, several bystanders can be seen rushing towards a black car that has stopped in the left-most lane of the road.<\/p>\n
About a dozen people, including elderly passers-by and motorcyclists, are seen working together to lift the vehicle from the front, middle and rear to free the teenager.<\/p>\n
One man is seen lying on his stomach and reaching under the car to pull the cyclist to safety.<\/p>\n
After the boy is freed, a few men are seen carrying him to the side of the road while others gather around to assist.<\/p>\n
The number of traffic accidents resulting in injuries in Singapore is on the rise, said the Traffic Police in its annual road traffic report released in\u00a0February.<\/p>\n
There were\u00a07,560\u00a0traffic accidents resulting in injuries in 2025, up from\u00a07,053 cases in 2024.<\/p>\n
