{"id":66977,"date":"2026-07-08T07:15:14","date_gmt":"2026-07-07T23:15:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=66977"},"modified":"2026-07-08T07:15:14","modified_gmt":"2026-07-07T23:15:14","slug":"sgh-nhg-health-warn-of-fake-health-product-ads","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=66977","title":{"rendered":"SGH &#038; NHG Health warn of fake health product ads"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 Beware of fake advertisements featuring individuals dressed in <!-- -->Singapore General Hospital\u2019s (SGH)<!-- --> or NHG Health garb to promote health products that have been circulating online, both institutions have warned.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In a Facebook post<!-- --> on July 7, SGH s<!-- -->aid it has become aware of advertisements on social media platforms that depict an individual dressed in its healthcare uniform to promote health products.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">A photograph accompanying the post showed screenshots of two TikTok videos featuring a woman wearing an SGH lab<!-- -->oratory<!-- --> coat and a SingHealth uniform.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SGH said that the person featured in the advertisements is not an SGH employee, representative or affiliate, and that the advertisements are not authorised by or affiliated with the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">\u201cSGH does not promote, advertise or endorse any specific brand or product, in accordance with the Healthcare Services Act,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The hospital added that members of the public should take caution when buying health products online. They can check with their doctor or healthcare professional to see if the product is suitable, and should avoid purchasing from unfamiliar or suspicious sources.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">It also urged the public to be wary of exaggerated claims that falsely imply endorsements by SGH or its staff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Separately, public healthcare provider <!-- -->NHG Health<!-- --> said in a Facebook post on<!-- --> July 6<!-- --> that it is aware of videos circulating online that show an individual in its healthcare uniform <!-- -->claiming<!-- --> to be a healthcare professional or pharmacist selling medical products.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">This individual is not an employee, representative or affiliate of NHG Health, it added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">NHG Health is one of Singapore\u2019s three public healthcare clusters. Its integrated health system includes Tan Tock Seng Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, Woodlands Hospital, Yishun Community Hospital, the Institute of Mental Health, National Skin Centre, National Centre for Infectious Diseases and NHG Polyclinics, which operates 10 polyclinics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Checks by ST found that the TikTok account highlighted by SGH in its Facebook post hosts several videos of the same individual dressed in various uniforms, including ones that bear the logos of local pharmacy chains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In 2024, SGH had also warned<!-- --> the<!-- --> public of advertisements on social media platforms <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/health\/sgh-warns-public-of-fake-advertisements-using-its-logo-to-promote-health-products?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"inline font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"typography-test-id\">using<\/span><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/health\/sgh-warns-public-of-fake-advertisements-using-its-logo-to-promote-health-products?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"inline font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"typography-test-id\">\u00a0its logo to promote health products<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text-primary font-tertiary-body-baseline-regular\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Scammers have also used artificial intelligence to defraud Singaporeans.
