Samsung <\/b>said it has managed to vastly improve 5G download speeds for one Japanese telco in the heart of its financial capital, Tokyo<\/b>.<\/p>\n
Per its announcement<\/u>, Samsung has partnered with KDDI <\/b>to conduct a series of networking trials for several months since late 2025, and saw an average increase of 31% in downlink throughput<\/b> (actual download speeds) during peak hours.<\/p>\n

The optimisation happens at the per-cell level<\/b>, instead of the typical cluster approach that applies the same settings across multiple cells.<\/p>\n Throughout the trial, KDDI benefited from AI-powered automatic adjustments, which reduced the need for human intervention. End users (phone owners) experienced more reliable connectivity for daily needs, such as watching videos, browsing the web, or making calls.<\/p>\n For reference, Tokyo has a median download speed of about 83Mbps as of May 2026, ranking it the 101st-fastest city in the world (according to Ookla<\/u>). Singapore\u2019s median sits at 183Mbps, a whole 100Mbps faster.
