You\u2019ve probably heard that Apple recently increased the prices of its Macs, iPads, and several other devices. One of them is the Apple TV 4K.<\/p>\n
The Apple TV 4K is, by all accounts, a fantastic digital media player. It\u2019s incredibly compact, and it was relatively powerful \u2013 at the time of its launch, which is nearly four years ago. Yes, it\u2019s getting long in the tooth, and yet it was one of the devices that got the largest price hike.<\/p>\n
When it was announced in October 2022, it had a starting launch price of S$199. This got you an Apple TV 4K with Wi-Fi connectivity and 64GB of onboard storage. For S$239, you could get a model with Ethernet connectivity and 128GB of storage.<\/p>\n
Today, that same 64GB model costs S$299. And if you need Ethernet connectivity, prepare to cough up S$379. That\u2019s an increase of around 50% and 58%<\/b>, respectively. And as good as the Apple TV 4K is, I\u2019m afraid they don\u2019t represent great value at these prices, especially when much more affordable alternatives exist.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m sure Apple knows this, which means these price hikes are likely done in anticipation of upcoming new hardware that is more powerful and has more advanced features<\/b>. There have been rumours for a while that Apple will release new versions of the Apple TV 4K, one that supports Apple Intelligence and the new Siri. And now that Apple has finally announced Siri AI \u2013 and got it to work \u2013 it seems like the perfect time to launch new Apple TV hardware.<\/p>\n
There\u2019s no telling when Apple will announce them, but it has to be after the official rollout of Siri AI, which means September at the earliest. If you are thinking of getting an Apple TV 4K, wait a few more months, now is definitely not the time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
