The Instagram account of convicted child sex offender Amos Yee has seemingly been banned, with many netizens expressing support for the move.<\/p>\n
Yee shared a screenshot on June 28 on his X account,<\/a> saying that his Instagram page, @amosyeeishere, had been \u201cdisabled\u201d on the same day.<\/p>\n The screenshot showed a message from the social media platform, stating: \u201cYour account, or activity on it, doesn\u2019t follow our Community Standards.\u201d<\/p>\n It added that the account\u2019s information would be permanently deleted from the platform and that other users would no longer be able to view or find the account.<\/p>\n \u201cYou cannot request another review of this decision,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n When Stomp searched for the account on Instagram, it was not found, though Yee\u2019s social media accounts on TikTok and X remain active.<\/p>\n Check out this tweet! link<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n In early May, Yee made headlines after he was involved in a brawl when he visited an anime convention, Doujun Market<\/a>, despite having been banned from the event.<\/p>\n On June 28, he said he was also barred from visiting Pink Dot,<\/a> an annual rally held at Hong Lim Park in support of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) community.<\/p>\n Speaking to Stomp, Yee confirmed that he was banned from Instagram, though he was \u201cnot entirely sure what caused the ban\u201d.<\/p>\n He speculated that the \u201cpublicity spike\u201d from the Pink Dot ban, coupled with a photo he posted in front of a PCF Sparkletots Preschool branch<\/a>, led to \u201ca wave of anger and reports\u201d which culminated in the ban.<\/p>\n When asked what his reaction was to the ban, he replied: \u201cEh.\u201d<\/p>\n Yee added that he would not create another account immediately, but would consider trying again in a few years.<\/p>\n \u201cIf I get banned almost immediately, there\u2019s no point setting it up and creating content there,\u201d he explained, describing himself as \u201chighly relevant and influential\u201d on other social media platforms.<\/p>\n \u201cSo the setback is not that bad,\u201d he reflected, noting that he averages two to six \u201cviral moments\u201d per month, and that \u201cloyal fans are slowly growing\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cAll is according to plan,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n The screenshot was also circulated on the Complaint Singapore Facebook group by user Wangan Bryan on June 30.<\/a><\/p>\n A number of netizens supported the ban, with several posting insults directed at the child sex offender.<\/p>\n \u201cNow, the whole world is against this guy,\u201d one netizen mused.<\/p>\n However, others said Yee could \u201calways create new accounts\u201d, suggesting that there were other ways to circumvent the ban.<\/p>\n \u201cWhere will he find events to crash now?\u201d another joked.<\/p>\n Have something to say?
