Pok\u00e9mon Go<\/em> hosts a Spotlight Hour <\/strong>every Thursday. This special event sees spawn rates for one Pok\u00e9mon boosted greatly. There\u2019s also usually some kind of doubled-up bonus, like doubled candy or XP, during this time, giving you an additional reason to check in.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n During July 2026<\/strong>, we have four Spotlight Hours, each with their own unique bonuses.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Spotlight Hour events run from 6-7 p.m. in your local time every Thursday<\/strong>. They can be a great way to stock up candy for a specific Pok\u00e9mon you\u2019re trying to power up and evolve or even find a shiny.<\/p>\n Shiny rates are not boosted during Spotlight Hours<\/strong>, based on data gathered by Pok\u00e9mon community The Silph Road. However, the sheer number of Pok\u00e9mon that spawn during the hour-long weekly event will still give you an improved chance of clicking on a random shiny<\/strong>. After all, the more Pok\u00e9mon you click on, the more opportunity you have to catch a shiny Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n If you are reading this guide and are thinking, “Weren’t Spotlight Hours on Tuesdays?” you are not wrong! Before being temporarily removed in March 2026, Spotlight Hours used to be on Tuesdays. They’re on Thursdays, as of June 2026.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The featured Pok\u00e9mon for the July 2026 Spotlight Hours are the following:<\/p>\n *Shiny available.<\/p>\n There is no Spotlight Hour on July 9, persumably to not overlap with the “Road to Legends” event ahead of Pok\u00e9mon Go Fest: Global.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Thanks to the hefty bonuses included every week with Spotlight Hours, some expert players strategize when to transfer or evolve their Pok\u00e9mon.<\/p>\n For example, if you have a ton of Pidgey (or any other Pok\u00e9mon in your inventory with plenty of candy to spare) to evolve for XP or a bunch of Pok\u00e9mon you need to evolve to complete your Pok\u00e9dex, you might want to wait until the Spotlight Hour with the double XP for evolving Pok\u00e9mon, where you can use a Lucky Egg for this hour to increase your gains even more.<\/p>\n Or, if you\u2019re sitting on a bunch of extra legendary Pok\u00e9mon you don\u2019t need anymore, consider dumping them during the double transfer candy Spotlight Hour to get even more candy gains.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n Pok\u00e9mon Go hosts a Spotlight Hour every Thursday.
