Venkat Patakota, the Group CFO of A-Sunmarine Engineering, shared his recent travel experience on X. (Representational image\/Unsplash)<span\/><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"content \">\n<h2>\u201845 minutes in India, 45 seconds in Singapore\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Venkat Patakota criticised the experience of travelling through Indian airports, especially immigration and security processes, noting how he recently spent 45 minutes clearing immigration. He said there were just two officials to handle the large crowd in India, resulting in delays.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"content \">Recalling his journey to Singapore, Patakota said he reached Indian immigration at around 6:45 pm and found a long queue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">\u201cTime taken at Indian immigration &#8211; 6.45 pm stood in the queue, around 75 people in the queue &#8211; just 2 officers,\u201d he wrote. \u201cSuddenly at 7.15 pm, 15 people jumped the lane mentioning their boarding closes at 7.45 pm. Finally completed immigration in 45 minutes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">In contrast, he described <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/trending\/man-praises-singapore-gst-refund-system-calls-process-seamless-and-hasslefree-101782031260679.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Singapore\" rel=\"noopener\">Singapore <\/a>immigration as a quick, technology-driven process. It involved just a passport scan and facial recognition, with no added security checks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">\u201cSingapore immigration &#8211; 30 Sec &#8211; scan passport and then facial recognition. No Security check !!\u201d Patakota wrote.<\/p>\n<p><h2>Return journey: India process still slower<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p class=\"content \">Patakota said his return experience was similar, with Singapore\u2019s immigration taking less than a minute.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">\u201cSingapore immigration &#8211; 45 sec &#8211; including thumb impression,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">After arriving in India, he said he managed to clear immigration faster because of his seat position, but others faced longer waits.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">\u201cIndia &#8211; lucky that my seat no is 8A, could clear in 15 minutes while 100 plus members in the queue again with 2 officers physically certifying,\u201d he wrote. He added that security clearance took another 15 minutes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">Patakota also raised concerns about the way new health declaration procedures were being handled at airports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">\u201cThen today onwards <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hindustantimes.com\/topic\/ebola\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"EBOLA\" rel=\"noopener\">EBOLA <\/a>health declaration. Did online submission, but wanted physical signature finally no one is there to check,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"content \">The CFO argued that the issue was not just the waiting time but also the lack of accountability during the process. \u201cOn top of this I felt immigration officers to be indifferent and not concerned about queues. There is no higher authority at least to address this issue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<div class=\"content \">\n<h2>What internet users said<\/h2>\n<p>Many people in the comments section advised Patakota to get enrolled in the Fast Track Immigration programme to expedite the process.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"content \">\u201cDear Sir, we understand your concern.
