{"id":64719,"date":"2026-06-29T16:58:59","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T08:58:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=64719"},"modified":"2026-06-29T16:58:59","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T08:58:59","slug":"tourism-malaysia-lays-out-plan-to-entice-chinese-travellers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=64719","title":{"rendered":"Tourism Malaysia lays out plan to entice Chinese travellers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div id=\"\">\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\"><span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Malaysia<\/span>\u2019s bet on <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Chinese tourists<\/span> is increasingly being shaped by the same forces influencing their itineraries: short videos, lifestyle apps, online personalities and newly opened routes from beyond China\u2019s biggest cities.<\/div>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">Tourism Malaysia confirmed the focus, saying its Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign in China included \u201cdigital marketing, key opinion leader (KOL) collaborations, short-video content, and themed initiatives\u201d.<\/p>\n<div datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1xdhyk6 ec74h0k0\">The response followed a <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">This Week in Asia story<\/span> on how mainland platforms such as <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">RedNote<\/span>, <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Douyin<\/span> and <span data-qa=\"Component-Text\" class=\"css-0 ef9u0v00\">Weibo<\/span> are turning Malaysian mosques, food stops and photo-friendly locations into itinerary items for Chinese visitors.<\/div>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">But the agency did not disclose how much it was spending on China-facing promotions or influencer-led campaigns, saying the \u201cimplementation and scale\u201d of campaigns were \u201csubject to the annual budget allocation approved for the respective year\u201d.<\/p>\n<p datatype=\"p\" data-qa=\"Component-Component\" class=\"e8zc9q40 css-1c6uqr6 ec74h0k1\">The platforms were being used to \u201coptimise market reach\u201d, target high-end luxury travellers and directly engage \u201cyoung, independent travellers\u201d, it said. \u201cFor the China market, Tourism Malaysia promotional efforts are primarily focused on engaging both the travel trade and consumers.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-inline-container e1a5rv550 css-1llrc1m e1yqhwb40\" data-qa=\"Component-renderMap-StyledDiv\">\n<div class=\"image-inline caption e1fvabeq0 css-19sk4h4 ea9pn0s0\" data-qa=\"Component-Container\">\n<figure class=\"image-inline caption ea9pn0s1 css-1qeofuq e1gf69pb0\" data-qa=\"ArticleImage-ArticleImageContainer\">\n<div data-qa=\"ArticleImage-handleRenderImage-ImageContainer\" class=\"css-bjn8wh e1gf69pb3\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A tourist tries her hand at making coconut jelly during Eid al-Adha cultural activities organised by local tourism groups in Johor, Malaysia, on May 29.
