And in the most unexpected of venues.<\/p>\n<p>Beng Hiang, the 48-year-old heritage restaurant known for old-school favourites like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.8days.sg\/eatanddrink\/hawkerfood\/lee-ji-xiao-chi-76yo-hawker-hokkien-mee-holland-village-food-centre-849486\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hokkien mee<\/a>, kong bak bao and fish maw soup, has reopened at Shangri-La Singapore as part of a new culinary residency.<\/p>\n<p>The residency, which is not intended to be permanent, has transformed the Garden Terrace \u2014 an indoor-outdoor event space at Shangri-La Singapore \u2014 into the restaurant&#8217;s new home, with seating for about 80 guests.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1978, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.8days.sg\/eatanddrink\/newsandreviews\/westlake-restaurant-kong-bak-bao-third-gen-owner-856496\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hokkien restaurant<\/a> first opened on Murray Street before relocating to Amoy Street in the 1980s, where it spent the bulk of its history and became a popular gathering spot for family meals and celebrations.
