Meta has expanded its smart eyewear ambitions with the launch of Meta Glasses<\/b>, a new range of AI-powered glasses developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica<\/b>. Starting from US$299<\/b>, the new collection aims to make Meta\u2019s wearable AI technology more accessible, while marking the next step in a partnership that has already produced the Ray-Ban Meta<\/b> and Oakley Meta<\/b> smart glasses.<\/p>\n
Unlike its earlier collaborations with EssilorLuxottica, Meta Glasses are not tied to an existing eyewear brand. Instead, the collection is sold under Meta\u2019s own name and comprises three frame families \u2013 Adventurer<\/b>, Fury<\/b> and Starfinder<\/b> \u2013 across 26 different styles<\/b>, with a mix of prescription, clear and sun lenses available. In its press release, Meta says the new range has been designed to offer a broader variety of looks while lowering the entry price for AI-powered eyewear.<\/p>\n
Feature-wise, Meta Glasses retain much of the same features that we saw with the Ray-Ban Meta 2 (that we reviewed). They include an ultra-wide 12MP camera<\/b> capable of capturing photos and 3K video, open-ear speakers, five microphones and hands-free access to Meta AI. Users can ask questions about what they are looking at, translate conversations in real time, play music, make calls and send messages without reaching for their phone. Battery life is rated for up to eight hours of typical use, while the bundled charging case extends total usage to as much as 48 hours.<\/p>\nAvailability and pricing<\/h2>\n
Meta Glasses starts from US$299 and are available for pre-order in the United States from today, with shipments beginning later this year. International availability has yet to be announced.<\/p>\n
