Hideo Kojima has shared new insight into the Death Stranding movie, while director Michael Sarnoski has revealed a key detail about it as well.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Kojima said he wanted to “try a different path” with the adaptation of Death Stranding for film. That path, he said, is to make a “two-hour art movie” as opposed to re-telling the story of the games.<\/p>\n
Kojima admitted this plan might not work. <\/p>\n
“I don’t know if this will be successful, but that’s the goal,” he said.<\/p>\n
The Death Stranding movie is in the works at A24, which just reached an AI-training deal with Google, and is also behind the Elden Ring film from director Alex Garland. <\/p>\n
Sarnoski, who earned acclaim for directing the movie Pig starring Nicolas Cage and later made A Quiet Place: Day One, told The Hollywood Reporter that Death Stranding is his next project. Sarnoski, who is also writing the script, said he’s still working on the script, but he’s confirmed it’s the next movie he’ll direct “for sure.”<\/p>\n
Sarnoski’s latest project was The Death of Robin Hood, which stars Hugh Jackman as Robin Hood and released on June 19.<\/p>\n
The Death Stranding movie doesn’t have a cast, release date, or any other concrete information yet. However, Sarnoski previously talked about how the film will feature characters not seen in the game, but with the overall aim of “keeping it honest to the game.”<\/p>\n
Kojima himself was\u00a0approached to direct the Death Stranding movie, but he declined. Kojima won\u2019t be \u201cinvolved too much\u201d because if he were, he said he would \u201cstart saying a lot of things.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kojima is also working on a new game for Xbox called OD, and a new screenshot was shared in the Entertainment Weekly story linked above.<\/p>\n
