revamp respectively, the National Library Board (NLB) announced on June 22 in a Facebook post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Ang Mo Kio Library<!-- -->\u2019s last day of operations at its current premises at <!-- -->4300<!-- --> Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 will be on July <!-- -->31<!-- -->.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The new Ang Mo Kio Library will reopen on<!-- --> <!-- -->Nov <!-- -->20<!-- --> at AMK Hub, offering visitors \u201cgreater connectivity and a refreshed library experience inspired by green spaces\u201d, NLB said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The new space will have tall bookshelves and design features inspired by the neighbourhood\u2019s iconic landmarks, the board said previously, adding that library-goers can also look forward to new immersive and interactive experiences.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In the meantime, library patrons are encouraged to use the self-service Browse-n-Borrow kiosk and Sit-n-Read Node on level 4 of AMK Hub, or visit the public libraries in<!-- --> <!-- -->Bishan, Yishun and Toa Payoh to continue accessing library resources.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Queenstown Library\u2019s last day of operations at <!-- -->53<!-- --> Margaret Drive will be on Aug <!-- -->30<!-- -->, and is slated to reopen in late 2028 after its revamp.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The \u201ciconic facade\u201d of Singapore\u2019s oldest public library will be preserved, \u201cwhile the rich heritage of the library and surrounding Queenstown community will be woven into the library\u2019s new design and offerings\u201d, NLB said in its June 22 post.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">It first opened its doors in 1970 and was gazetted for conservation in 2013, which requires its <!-- -->facade<!-- --> to be maintained.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Its temporary closure after Aug 30 follows \u201cextensive preparatory work due to its status as a gazetted conserved building\u201d, NLB added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The library was originally <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/conserved-queenstown-library-to-undergo-major-revamp-in-its-55th-year-in-2025?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\">slated to be closed for its revamp in the first quarter of 2025<\/span><\/a>, as part of a wider transformation plan for public libraries in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The temporary closures of the Ang Mo Kio and Queenstown libraries come after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/community\/unwind-with-books-and-soundscapes-at-the-newly-reopened-bukit-batok-library?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04
