The Pokmon Company has announced a new commemorative expansion for the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) as part of the franchise\u2019s 30th anniversary celebrations.<\/p>\n
Called Pokemon TCG: 30th Celebration<\/b>, the expansion will launch globally on 16 September 2026<\/b>. This also marks the first time a Pokemon TCG expansion will receive a coordinated worldwide release across participating markets on the same day. The company says additional products tied to the anniversary set will be released throughout the year.<\/p>\n
The anniversary expansion is designed as a celebration of the card game\u2019s three-decade history, bringing back a selection of classic cards while also introducing entirely new collectibles. Every card in the set will feature a foil treatment, and booster packs will contain five foil cards, one foil Basic Energy card, and a Pokemon TCG Live code card. Needless to say, these cards are going to be highly sought after.<\/p>\n
Among the biggest additions is a brand-new rarity tier known as Futuristic rare<\/b>. Illustrated by Japanese artist YOSHIROTTEN<\/b>, these cards feature vibrant, stylised artwork depicting Pokemon in futuristic settings and are intended to represent hope and possibility for the future of the franchise.<\/p>\n
Pikachu will also take centre stage in the anniversary set. Every booster pack will include one of 30 unique foil Pikachu cards<\/b>, with each card illustrated by a different artist. The set will further feature new cards showcasing various Pokemon across different times of day, from bright daytime scenes to nighttime settings.<\/p>\n
Notably, the expansion will also reintroduce 30 classic Pokemon cards<\/b> from across the game\u2019s history, each receiving a new foil treatment for the anniversary release. While these reprinted cards won\u2019t be legal in the Standard format, they can still be used in formats where their original versions remain eligible.<\/p>\n
