The world\u2019s best-selling smartphone in the first quarter of 2026 will surprisingly miss out on two new Siri AI features when iOS 27 rolls out later this year.<\/p>\n
During WWDC 2026, Apple revealed that its most advanced on-device Siri AI models requires at least 12GB of RAM to run<\/b>. As a result, the iPhone 17 does not meet the hardware requirements for these features, despite being part of Apple\u2019s latest flagship lineup.<\/p>\n
At first glance, the omission may seem significant. However, whether iPhone 17 users should be concerned depends largely on how important these specific features are to their daily usage.<\/p>\n
The first feature is a more expressive Siri voice<\/b>. Apple has enhanced Siri\u2019s speech capabilities by allowing users to adjust the assistant\u2019s tone, pacing, and level of expressiveness, resulting in a more natural and personalised conversational experience.<\/p>\n
The second is an upgraded dictation engine<\/b>. Apple says it delivers more accurate speech-to-text conversion while automatically handling punctuation, capitalisation, and formatting. The system is also designed to better understand context across apps, messages, documents, and even images, making voice input more seamless and reliable.<\/p>\n
Fortunately, the iPhone 17 is not being left behind entirely. Alongside the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 series, it will continue to support the vast majority of <\/b>Siri AI feature<\/b>s introduced in iOS 27<\/b>. These include personal context awareness, on-screen awareness, broader world knowledge, deeper app integration, and the new Siri mode in Camera.<\/p>\n
iOS 27 is scheduled to launch later this year and will be available for the iPhone 11 and newer, as well as the iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). However, as Apple continues to push the boundaries of on-device AI, it\u2019s likely that owners of future iPhones may find RAM capacity to be just as important as processor performance when it comes to accessing the latest features.<\/p>\n
