Some people love the comfort they provide and extra spatial awareness they provide, while others complain about the possibility of them falling from the ears, the lack of ANC or the lacklustre sound quality. Well, the OPPO Enco Clip2<\/b> solves at least two of those issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Enco Clip2 gets a slight update to the design this time around, along with a new dual-driver setup that\u2019s powered by dual DACs and a sound profile that\u2019s tuned by Danish audio brand, Dynaudio.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve seen quite a few brands shift towards this cuff\/clip-style open-design in the last year or so, and we\u2019re big fans due to the extra stability it provides when seated in the ear. However, the ear cuff design isn\u2019t to everybody\u2019s taste, since it can look too much like a ear ring.<\/p>\n
Unlike other open-ear earbuds that just sit in the ear canal, it\u2019s extremely difficult to accidentally dislodge and lose a clip-style earbud.\u00a0<\/p>\n
In fact, I did some major head-banging with the Enco Clip2 on just to test how hard it would be to shake one of them off, and out of the multiple tests I did, the earbud only flew off once<\/b>. Regardless, if you do manage to knock one of them out of your ear, OPPO has a feature which we\u2019ll cover later that informs you about it.<\/p>\n
The cuff portion has a nickel-titanium alloy strip inside, which is supposed to withstand over 30,000 bends<\/b>. Additionally, these come with an IP55 dust and water resistance rating, which is better than the IPX4 we usually see for open-design earbuds.<\/p>\n\nOPPO Enco Clip2 in Slate Grey<\/p>\n

The Enco Clip2 comes in two colours, Luminous Gold or Slate Grey. The gold colourway is shiny and resembles an earcuff accessory more, while the grey option is matte and a bit more subtle in the ear.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The charging case is quite standard, but the matte finish of the Slate Grey model\u2019s case does help to prevent oily fingerprints, which is nice. It also charges only via USB-C, so no wireless charging here.<\/p>\n
Sound & mic quality<\/h2>\n Thanks to the dual-driver design and the partnership with Dynaudio<\/b>, these earbuds have surprisingly good sound. The caveat is that you\u2019ll only really be able to appreciate it when you\u2019re in a quieter environment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Due to the nature of open-design earbuds letting in environmental sound, you\u2019ll find your music competing with everything that\u2019s around you. So if you\u2019re on the train or a plane, it\u2019ll be difficult to really enjoy what you\u2019re listening to unless you bump the volume up.<\/p>\n
But in the office or at home where it\u2019s quieter, the earbuds perform brilliantly. While the bass and low-end are a little lacking due to the open-fit design, the mids and highs come through nicely with a good amount of detail. The midrange have decent resolution, even though it can be hard to really catch every detail in a more complex track.<\/p>\n
For general pop or rock songs that don\u2019t have too much instrument layering, it\u2019ll work fine.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The highs are tuned with nice sparkle and energy, and the soundstage is quite expansive, which works beautifully for classical music or orchestral pieces that require that extra space and air to breathe.\u00a0<\/p>\n
There\u2019s the Sound Master EQ feature<\/b> (accessible via the HeyMelody app or directly through ColorOS on OPPO phones) which allows you to select from the Ultimate sound, Vibrant, Pure vocals, or Dynaudio featured presets. Personally, Vibrant was my pick for the entire testing period as it boosted the mids so that music was generally a little clearer and crisper even when I was outdoors.\u00a0<\/p>\n\nGreat mic quality<\/p>\n

The microphones actually work very well, with great noise cancellation when out and about. My voice also came across clearly in calls, no doubt thanks to the voice pick up (VPU) sensor that uses bone conduction, and an AI NPU processor.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Connectivity & battery life<\/h2>\n\nNo need for the HeyMelody app if you\u2019re using an OPPO phone<\/p>\n

As mentioned, you\u2019ll want to download the HeyMelody app<\/b> if you\u2019re using an Android phone (that\u2019s not from OPPO) or an iPhone. OPPO phones will have the earbuds controls built directly into ColorOS so there\u2019s no need for a separate download unless you want to access features from the Home screen.<\/p>\n\n

In the HeyMelody app, you can also access features like AI Translate, Spotify Tap, Sound space for white noise, and earbud fall detection, which sends an alert when an earbud drops out of your ear.<\/p>\n
AI Translate lets you use the phone as a microphone to pick up a foreign language and translate it into your own. I tried this with Chinese and Japanese, and it worked decently, as long as you\u2019re not in a conversation with multiple people deliberately trying to confuse the feature.<\/p>\n
Spotify Tap lets you access your music on Spotify with a single tap, just as the name implies. Whether it\u2019s getting back into an album you\u2019re halfway done with, or checking out a new playlist, you\u2019ll be able to enjoy music with your Spotify account without having to pull out your phone.<\/p>\n
The earbuds support the high-res LHDC 5.0<\/b> codec for high-res wireless audio, in addition to the usual SBC and AAC.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Surprisingly, these earbuds run on Bluetooth 6.1<\/b>, which should translate to better battery life due to better efficiency.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Battery life is quite decent. OPPO claims up to 9.5 hours<\/b> on AAC (40 hours total with charging case), or 8 hours on LHDC 5.0 (36 hours total with charging case). I\u2019ve used these for an entire day in the office, and still had about 20% left, so if you\u2019re in a quieter place and listening at lower volumes, it might last even longer.<\/p>\nFinal thoughts and buying advice<\/h2>\n\nDiscounts make it even more value-for-money<\/p>\n

Even though the official retail price is listed at S$259<\/b>, we\u2019ve kept an eye on the official website since it launched in May 2026 and constant discounts has kept the price at S$229<\/b>, which is more palatable.\u00a0<\/p>\n
If you\u2019re not opposed to the design of these earbuds, we can\u2019t recommend them enough if it fits your usual listening habits.\u00a0<\/p>\n
While it\u2019s not the best option for commuting, the OPPO Enco Clip2 is perfect if you want to enjoy your music in the office or at home while still keeping a ear out for your boss or family members.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Compared to other open-design alternatives like the Apple AirPods, OPPO\u2019s Enco Air open-design series or even Sony\u2019s LinkBuds, the Enco Clip2 offers a more secure fit and better durability with the IP55 rating. The passive noise isolation might not be as good as the in-ear stemmed design competitors, but the dual drivers and Dynaudio tuning make for a very enjoyable listening experience when not in a noisy place.<\/p>\n
Other brands have been producing clip-style earbuds, like the Sony LinkBuds Clip and Huawei\u2019s FreeClip2, so we\u2019re excited to see and test out more of this style of earbuds in the coming months.<\/p>\n
