{"id":61208,"date":"2026-06-16T19:19:03","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T11:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=61208"},"modified":"2026-06-16T19:19:03","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T11:19:03","slug":"more-rain-expected-in-second-half-of-june-with-thundery-showers-across-spore-on-most-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sgbuzz.com\/?p=61208","title":{"rendered":"More rain expected in second half of June with thundery showers across S\u2019pore on most days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">SINGAPORE \u2013 Keep your brollies handy, as short, thundery showers are expected over parts of Singapore on <!-- -->most<!-- --> days in the last <!-- -->two weeks of June<!-- -->, said the weatherman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">In its fortnightly weather advisory on<!-- --> June 16<!-- -->, the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) said the showers are likely to occur during the<!-- --> late mornings and afternoons.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The total rainfall for the last fortnight of June is expected to be above average over most parts of the island.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">On a few of these days, thundery showers may be heavy, when there is large-scale wind convergence over the island and the surrounding region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">This comes as the south-west monsoon is forecast in Singapore through <!-- -->June to the end of September.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Low-level winds are expected to blow from the <!-- -->south-east or south<!-- -->, and shift to the <!-- -->south-west or west<!-- --> on some days for the rest of June.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">MSS said widespread thundery showers with gusty winds may occur during the pre-dawn hours and a few mornings due to Sumatra squalls.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Sumatra squalls are a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.straitstimes.com\/singapore\/st-explains-what-s-a-sumatra-squall?ref=inline-article\" rel=\"noopener\" class=\"gap-x-04 items-center inline text-primary-60 select-auto\" aria-label=\"link\" target=\"_blank\" data-testid=\"custom-link\"><span class=\"font-body-baseline-regular inline\" data-testid=\"paragraph-test-id\"> common and vigorous line of thunderstorms<\/span><\/a> travelling rapidly towards the South China Sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">The daily maximum temperatures are likely to range between<!-- --> 33 deg C and 34 deg C on most days<!-- -->. On a few days, the daily maximum temperature can reach a high of<!-- --> slightly above 34 deg C<!-- -->.<\/p>\n<p class=\"font-body-baseline-regular text-primary\" data-testid=\"article-paragraph-annotation-test-id\">Some nights may also be warm and humid.
