Some firms are reorganising. Some are cutting jobs. Some are moving roles or operations elsewhere in search of leaner cost structures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">Gain City is choosing another route. Over four decades, it moved with Singapore\u2019s own economic transformation, from a small local business into a retailer serving generations of households.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">Today, Gain City operates <b>across 18 locations in Singapore<\/b>, supported by almost 1,000 employees and an in-house fleet of more than 200 service vehicles. That last bit matters because this is not just a shopfront business. Behind every air-conditioner sale, fridge delivery, or home appliance purchase is a fairly serious service machine involving technicians, drivers, warehouse teams, installers, support staff and customer-facing teams.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">The upcoming Tampines Megastore builds on Gain City\u2019s megastore format, which many shoppers would associate with its <b>Sungei Kadut outlet<\/b>. The Sungei Kadut Megastore has long been a one-stop destination for consumer electronics, IT, furniture, air-conditioning products, and home renovation needs. The Tampines outlet now brings that big-format retail idea to the east, closer to residents in one of Singapore\u2019s most established heartland regions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">For North East residents, the pitch is not only convenience as shoppers. It is also access to work nearer home.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">Available positions span retail sales associates and managers, outdoor sales executives, cashiers, sous chefs, cooks, service crew, technicians, installers, project managers, project sales managers, warehouse executives and managers, facilities engineers and managers, B2B sales coordinators, Class 3 and Class 4 drivers, systems engineers, customer service executives, finance and accounting executives or leads, and human resources executives or senior executives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"_base_1s8rd_1 _default_1s8rd_12\">In other words, this is not one of those hiring pushes where every job sounds like the same frontline role with a different title. But the company is also careful not to pitch this as technology replacing people.
