While a Final Fantasy 6<\/em> remake is in high demand from Square Enix’s fans, don’t expect that to be the next project the Final Fantasy 7 Revelation<\/em> team moves on to. In particular, director Naoki Hamaguchi doesn’t seem to want to work on a Final Fantasy 6 remake.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n This admission came during an interview with Game Informer about next year’s Final Fantasy 7 Revelation<\/em>. Hamaguchi, who directed all three games in the Final Fantasy 7 remake series, was asked about what he may develop next. His response indicated that he knows fans want Square Enix to create a Final Fantasy 6<\/em> remake, but that he doesn’t have much personal interest in developing that kind of game.<\/p>\n “I do see a lot of fans and community asking me to take on the helm for a FF6<\/em> remake,” he explained.”So, I’m seeing a lot of that floating online, but, you know, a Final Fantasy 6 Remake<\/em> or any other remake, it could be me, or it could be someone else. Personally, I think that it might be in better hands if it went to another creator in Square Enix.”<\/p>\n Considering the past decade of his life has been spent working on a reinterpretation of an existing game, it’s understandable that Hamaguchi doesn’t want to jump right into a similar project after wrapping up work on Final Fantasy 7 Revelation<\/em>. As for what he wants to work on, Hamaguchi told Game Informer that he does plan on sticking around in the JRPG genre.<\/p>\n “In terms of what I personally want to do, obviously, I think my next creative work is also going to be a JRPG,” Hamaguchi explained. “When you look at all the other titles that we have released at Square Enix, not just the FF7 Remake series, I think Square Enix, as a brand, as a company, is more than capable of delivering this grand-scale RPG that could resonate to gamers across the world. Fans might have a lot of different expectations, but for me personally, I do want to take on this new challenge with another RPG title after this, whether it be Final Fantasy or a different IP.”<\/p>\n It will still be some time before Hamaguchi has to determine what his next project will be, as Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s<\/em> development has not wrapped up yet.
