Doug Cockle, the voice of Geralt in CD Projekt Red\u2019s The Witcher games, is poised to return to the role for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt<\/em>\u2019s newly announced DLC, Songs of the Past<\/em>. Just don\u2019t ask him for details about it, because he knows as much as you do.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In a recent video interview with Polygon, Cockle said he \u201chad a feeling\u201d something<\/em> new was on the way from the Polish company. \u201cThere was a feeling in the air that CDPR may have been cooking something up, but I had no idea what. For all I knew, it could have been another Thronebreaker<\/em> type of thing,\u201d he said, referring to the 2018 Gwent-focused spin-off Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales<\/em>. He\u2019s not alone: the expansion had been rumored to be in development for quite some time, and its announcement felt more like a formality than a genuine surprise.<\/p>\n \u201cI was absolutely thrilled when they did announce that there is going to be a Witcher 3<\/em> expansion and that it’s going to serve as kind of a bridge between The Witcher 3<\/em> and its DLCs and The Witcher 4<\/em>,\u201d Cockle said. His comments echo those of CDPR co-CEO Micha\u0142 Nowakowski, who said Songs of the Past<\/em> is \u201cin a way, a prologue\u201d to connect to The Witcher 4<\/em>.<\/p>\n But if you\u2019re hoping Cockle has secrets to spill about Songs of the Past<\/em> \u2014 when and where it might take place, perhaps \u2014 don\u2019t hold out hope. \u201cI know as much as you do based on the press releases that CDPR has put out,\u201d he said. \u201cI don’t know anything more than that. I’m excited to find out.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked if Cockle had recorded for Songs of the Past<\/em> yet, he gave a cheeky answer. \u201cI haven’t, but I wouldn’t tell you if I had.\u201d Secrecy, embargoes, non-disclosure agreements \u2014 the life of an actor.<\/p>\n Cockle hasn\u2019t recorded anything yet for the impending The Witcher<\/em> remake either. In fact, he doesn\u2019t even know if he\u2019ll be portraying Geralt in Fool\u2019s Theory\u2019s remake of the 2007 game that started it all.<\/p>\n \u201cI don’t know. I hope so,\u201d he said. \u201cAgain, it’s one of those things where I know what you know. […] I hope that they do bring me in to re-voice Geralt for the new one.\u201d<\/p>\n That remake is without a release date, and is likely at least a couple of years away. (CD Projekt Red has previously stated the remake won\u2019t be out until after The Witcher 4<\/em> is released, which won\u2019t happen until 2027 at the earliest.)
