Existing customers are being asked to switch to eight, either through the redONE 1App, a partner store or an eight Service Centre. Customers who move to eight can keep their existing mobile numbers, while those who prefer another provider can also port out to a telco or MVNO of their choice.

The move is less of a sudden goodbye and more of a managed migration. redONE’s website now pushes users towards eight, saying the shift will give customers “better plans, extra benefits and more value”. It also says subscribers can keep their numbers when switching and recommends moving as soon as possible to avoid service disruption. This is an easy option for both MVNO’s as they both run over the StarHub network.

Customers who switch to eight will need a new 5G-enabled SIM card. According to redONE, users can complete the migration through the redONE app by logging in, entering their details and delivery address, and then activating the eight SIM cards once they arrive in the mail. The company says there are no upfront charges for the switch, and users may get up to two months of free service as part of the migration offer.

For those wondering whether they are locked into eight, redONE says customers can switch to another telco instead, subject to the usual porting and account conditions. That is useful to know because telco closures are exactly the sort of thing that make people suddenly review whether their plan still fits how they actually use data, roaming and calls.

redONE came to Singapore in 2019 as a Malaysian MVNO with monthly plans starting from S$8. Its early pitch leaned heavily on affordability and cross-border usage, including its “Data Without Borders” proposition that let customers use their high-speed data allowance while roaming in Malaysia without extra roaming charges. That made sense at the time, especially for customers moving frequently between Singapore and Malaysia.

But Singapore’s SIM-only market has only become more aggressive since then. The low-cost mobile segment is now packed with brands offering huge data bundles, roaming perks, 5G access and frequent sign-up deals. In that context, redONE’s exit feels less surprising and more like another sign that the MVNO market is still shaking itself out.

HardwareZone readers may remember a similar story from Changi Mobile, which ceased operations by the end of February 2026 and transitioned customers to M1 Maxx. Grid Mobile had also previously exited the market, with its services ceasing in December 2021 and customers invited to move to GOMO by Singtel or Vivifi, depending on their profile.

The redONE situation follows the same broad pattern: an MVNO leaves the market, existing users are directed to a replacement provider, and customers who do not want the suggested route are given a window to port out to another provider.

For now, redONE customers should not leave this to the last minute. The practical steps are simple enough: check for outstanding bills, decide whether to move to eight or another provider, ensure the number port is complete, and only then retire the old SIM.

redONE Mobile Singapore is shutting down at the end of June, marking another exit from Singapore’s crowded MVNO space.
